What did you do with your 4runner today?

Started working on my HID retrofit! Got my new housings completely apart, sanded down the backside and bored out the 9006 bulb hole to accommodate the Mini D2S 4.0 projectors. I am quite pleased with the results as I took my time, and got a very snug fit with just enough play to rotate them for alignment.
Also stripped all the chrome plating off the interior pieces as I plan on blacking out the inside of the housings. Used oven cleaner to strip the chrome. It was absolutely shocking how fast that stuff stripped the chrome....I'm talkin like two minutes! Also stripped the projector shrouds.
Went to the auto parts store and picked up some Duplicolor Engine Primer/Low Gloss Black spray paint and will get started on that tomorrow. Once all is dry it'll be time to mount the projectors and get them wired up/aligned. It's definitely a process, but I figured I'm best off taking my time and being meticulous.

Slipped an extension in my cheap Curt rack and touched up my end caps... unfortunately the new extension looks new, and the old rack looks....old.
Had to redo the wiring harness to my rack lights, so it's all nice and pretty in new loom again
Also got my homebrew engine bay lights working on their door switch again...off when closed, on when open!
Added a set of QuickFists, mostly to carry a pole clip at work, but they'll grab anything!
Finally got some 10minute Awning LEDs hung and wired up...
And ended up trying something new for accessories, got this blazer wireless management system for free and decided I'd give it a test.....it sure makes installs a breeze though, as there's no need to run relays or hot wires to switches.
I don't think it'll last, or be all its cracked up to be.... but there's only one way to find out.

Cargo Lights
I've been wanting more lighting in my cargo area for camping trips, or anytime I need to do anything in the back at night. I didn't want to just put a LED bulb in the dome light, as I like all the dome lights to match, and I'm not a fan of LED's throughout the car. This all cost $22, and if I ever want to return it to original form, the 3 parts that i drilled can easily be acquired at a junkyard.
So, I got these bulbs on Amazon. $12 for 10 of them. They did come with a weird double flange deal, so I quickly removed that with a grinder.
Next, I drilled out the mirrors that live in the rear pillars. A drill to start with, and them a Dremel tool to finish up.
Next was to mount a switch. Since these lights pull very little power, I spliced into the 12V outlet in the cargo area. I got this switch for $10.
After the switch, it was just a matter of running wires to everything. I used plugs so it'll be easy to remove for whatever reason in the future. Here is the final result. These photos below were taken with the same camera setting, so its easy to see how big of a difference they make.

There are a couple of other spacers out there that allow you to retain
x-reas. Check out daystar or supreme suspensions...

Replaced all 4 outer lower weatherstrips on the doors, 45 minutes including a very good cleaning of the bottom portion of the windows and door paint area, it's amazing how much dirt is hidden under those weather strips.
Got the "belts" A.K.A. weatherstrips for just under $16 a piece plus shipping, total was $75, they got to me within 3 days of ordering them.

Not worried about keeping xreas. I just had got them for free so figured they were worth a shot :lol: Ordering 5100s with the next check.
You know what, I was doing that today too! lol. Finally no more cracked weatherstrips.
Plus my rear hatch door got jammed. I bought a new one for $160, but after i broke the plastic on the old motor, it still works. Huh, so strange. I thought the unit was broken already. Now it is working like normal again.

In the last 2 weeks i've done plugs, an oil change, and driven it 2 hours southeast to ride some trails at Prentice Cooper. Heading down again this saturday to explore some more. Didn't do bad at all with just a level and some michelins on her.

almost dropped transfer case
almost have the transfer case down to replace it on my 2003 4runner i got it stuck in 4lo and have a replacement transfer case on the way. but i cant seem to get the driveshafts separated from the transfer case tonight
