What did you do with your 4runner today?

chasing the famous front end clunk on my runner. installed prothane greasble bushings and pumped grease, clunk still unfazed...replaced inner and outer tierods more than a year ago, wondering the next part to change......

the clunk is quite irritating!

Me too. I just got new OEM LCAs and cam bolts, just need time to install and take it for alignment. The clunk is driving me nuts. Hoping it's a shot LCA bushing. I'll update after installation.

Me too! I've heard of so many different potential causes, but no definitive solution. Have you guys tried replacing you sway bar end links? That's going to be my next shot at ridding myself of this menace.

I've fixed quite a few weird clunks. Only to get some back later on. Seems like I'm always chasing something. I think I'm to the point of ditching the sway bars, 45k miles on the poly bushings and they are all wallowed out. Most common clunk on accel/decel that I've found multiple times is LCA rear most bushing shot or bolt loose. Torque to spec!

Mine is a clunk when I hit bumps. I thought it was the suspension bottoming out, but it happens even if I don't hit that hard. It's more that sharp impacts (like speed bumps) that make the noise. :censored:

have replaced the bushings on the passenger lca..only thing i cant recall changing recently is the sway bar end links.. whats the real name/part number for it?.

also i hv slight play in the passenger wheel , when i shake at 3 and 9 oclock, changed the old hub/bearing assy - it didnt resolve it, just reduced it a bit. bearing was loose and wobbly when removed

Added demello bumper & sliders and warn m8000 this weekend.
I need to add some fog lights

Got my tires balanced and all but eliminated any shaking, which is very nice.

On the negative side I noticed that someone has thrown a pumpkin-like item at my car and dented the tailgate. :frusty:

Find the kid who did it and throw a pumpkin back at them!

Try the boiling water trick and push the dent out from behind. I picked up a dented tailgate and it had a pretty nasty dent in the area right underneath the license plate (to the right of where your dent is) and I was able to push out a good portion of the dent.

Top = Before
Bottom = After (not perfect but it's better than before!)

Where his is dented isnt plastic. It’s his actual door ...hot water won’t do shiiiit.
Unfortunately...

Got these Trail Edition/TRD Off-road wheels mounted on the stock 265/65's. Waiting for these to wear out before getting AT 265/70's and lifting

Did this a few months ago but thought I would finally share.
I installed a dual battery kit, an air compressor, and a switch-pro under the hood. Made a special bracket for the compressor.

Not today but this week I did a major inspection of all suspension drive train and brakes. Most of the stuff that was replaced 50k miles ago is due for some attention. Wheel bearings good, driveshaft greased and good, upper and lower ball joints greased and good, upper control arm bushings may need to be pulled to be greased or just replaced. No calipers seized but the rear brake pads are gone and the fronts have a ton left? Maybe atrac eats rear brakes? Sway bar bushings and links shot, rear is staying off, front is getting new poly sway bushings and warranty the crappy moog links for now, getting better stuff next time around. Also needs new moog tie rod end driver side warrantied, and leaking driver front diff seal. CV boots not torn but getting hard and looking cracked ordered OEM to replace the beck arnleys there. Then I did a drain and fill on the trans, actually dropped the pan and changed filter and cleaned magnets. All looked good in there but fluid was barely red anymore even though I did the 12qt exchange 37k miles ago? It took 5 qts to top it back off. I'll plan on doing a drain and fill every 25k miles now I think to keep the fluid cleaner. All diffs oil looked clean and new and at level still even after all the water crossings this summer! I also measured to get material to make a custom rear bump stop drop with wheelers superbumps in prep for fitting bigger tires stuffed and not tearing my rear doors off, I think I could have used them before anyway. If you're still reading this you're a trooper, this is really just for my own documentation.

I've noticed the same thing with mine. No clue what causes it. I replaced rear brakes after having the truck for 6 months or so (This February, iirc). The fronts were, I believe, replaced before I bought it. By the time I got inspected in August, my rear pads had less life left than my fronts. Really weird.
