What did you do with your 4runner today?

Moved the double din Pioneer head unit and ported sub box with 2 12s from the 96 into the 06. Won't be needing a fancy sound system in a off road rig anymore. Also cleaned the MAF and throttle body. That thing was pretty bad. In fact it was so dirty, the car struggled to start after putting the EFI fuse back in.

Idler pulley came in on Friday, I can’t wait to get this thing installed this week when the rain stops and to get rid of that squeak that came back after I had the dealership replace my serpentine belt. When I had picked it up, they then told me the pulley was running rough, and was quoted a little over $200 for the replacement. I’ll be doing the work myself this time.

Swapped out my alternator with a denso reman since my factory one went out at 132k. Super easy swap... Except for the fact that I needed to do it past midnight since my apartment doesn't allow for working on the car in the lot and the light I had was super dim so seeing was a bit difficult. Would've done it on the street, but the battery was depleted...

Also, non-4runner related, but found out one of my neighbors is a snitch... She took pics, and called security over, to which they rolled by... meh... Luckily, I was just packing up my stuff, when they rolled by and I just told them I was unloading my truck. :heh:

Took the badges off my driver and passenger door and the runner badge off the tailgate. Left everything toyota. Hair dryer, floss, goo gone, a couple stones, and finished her off with a little turtle wax bug and tar remover. Man does it look good. Funny how these little visual changes make such a difference on our runners. Might get some trd badges to match the center caps on my wheels.

Are you running spacers or is the fitment with those wheels just that awesome?

Bottom idler pulley replaced, top pulley was running rough too, popped the seal off and greased it, no more noise! [emoji1303] called around every local parts store for a bearing to swap out, no luck. Just happy the sound is gone for now. Will be replacing the top soon. Easy stuff, and saved myself $$$.

Excuse the 2x4, hood struts are shot. Replacing those soon too!

Are you running a second battery? Where did you mount your second amp (assuming you used the OEM and mount for one)? What kind of beastly alternator powers that setup?

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say second amp.

This post just referred to me finishing an install of the ARB air compressor.

Yes, I have a second battery, shown in back of the air filter box, and I'm only running the stock 130 amp alternator.

It’s actually just the wheels. TRD 17” with BFG KO2s 265/70/17. It’s a good look but I’m doing a spindle lift tomorrow which will push the front wheels out .75” so I got spidertrax 1.25” for the rear.

Noticed a drop in MPG lately and finally hit 120k on my 04, so I replaced all my spark plugs(factory original ones) and serpentine belt. Mechanic buddys who's garage I used said if I hadn't replaced them they were gonna go at any time and my belt was about wore out too.
Also since I had access to the lift and air tools I finally swapped my old spacers with hub centric ones and got rid of that god awful shake I had going more then 40mph. 4runner runs like I day I bought her again with the new parts and my mpg went right back up to 18 mpg instead of 14.
Crazy what a little preventive maintenance will do
