What did you do with your 4runner today?

Noticed a drop in MPG lately and finally hit 120k on my 04, so I replaced all my spark plugs(factory original ones) and serpentine belt. Mechanic buddys who's garage I used said if I hadn't replaced them they were gonna go at any time and my belt was about wore out too.
Also since I had access to the lift and air tools I finally swapped my old spacers with hub centric ones and got rid of that god awful shake I had going more then 40mph. 4runner runs like I day I bought her again with the new parts and my mpg went right back up to 18 mpg instead of 14.
Crazy what a little preventive maintenance will do

You guys get 18? Damn! Swear I'm not jealous of the v-6... But DAMN! I'm happy at like 14.7 lol. New belts, new spark plugs, new engine peripherals (haven't really touched the steering system), new fluids new timing belt/chain (don't remember which this truck uses) new suspension and bushings too. With no roof rack I'm at 15 on a good day mostly in town. I also hate driving on the road with other people... They make me nervous so I probably drive a little heavy.

Maxtrac 4” spindle lift in the front. FJ coils from a 2008 4WD, Daystar 1.5” leveling kit, and Spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers in the rear. Ground to fender measurements before were front 34” rear 37”. Now it’s at front 38” rear 38.75”. Center of hub to fender after is front 22.25” rear 23” (measured in the dark I’ll confirm tomorrow).

Quick Weekend Crawl Trip

Before leaving for Florida i installed a super slim 14” light bar on one of my swingouts for more reverse lighting. It will eventually be wired where i can turn it on at will but for now it just comes on when in reverse. Very pleased with the output.

Struts installed with new moog Lca bushings and ball joints. Just waiting to pick it up from the alignment and then can get those wheels installed.

Ordered a set of Bilstein 6112's for the front, 5100's and Wheeler's T12 springs for the rear. Looking forward to having them installed next Friday!

After that, it'll be new UCA's and some better wheels/tires. I'm certain my 16" plasti dipped wheels will look somewhat anemic after the suspension is installed.

I think between the v6 and that most of my driving is interstate helps a lot because its a lot lower when I get stuck city driving lol. I use to get almost 20 with my non off road tires, but such is the price to look good lol

Changed the spark plugs with OEM Toyota Iridiums. Also took the opportunity to snug up all the valve cover bolts as they have begun to seep. I think the plugs that were in it were original as I didn't see any records indicating they were done and they certainly look like it.

Sure I’ll take some tomorrow. I kept everything on the hood and then grounded by the battery, took the power through the grommet into the cab, used an add a circuit and went right into the fuse box.
