Took a little longer than expected, but the lift install is complete!

The UCA's definitely took the longest to get in. They are made to some seriously tight tolerances. Absolutely struggled to get the final washer in there on the bolt. It is done though, and many a curse word was uttered in the process!

Installed a Kenwood headunit and iDataLink Maestro RR unit last year, and had been battling some parasitic draw gremlins with the antenna amplifier receiving power after the truck was turned off; Would drain about 170mA and I'd have a battery too weak to start the truck after about five days of sitting.

After some unsuccessful fixes I just unplugged the antenna amp - which led to shoddy FM/HD reception. Not a huge deal because I usually use Android Auto when driving, anyway.

Had to shelve the work for the winter, but finally got around to troubleshooting some more this past week. The support folks at the iDataLink forum are prompt and helpful. Think I may have finally gotten the issue resolved. It involved cutting a couple of wires on the iDataLink harness and tying a couple of unused wires together, but it appears I now have both an antenna amp AND no excess parasitic draw.

Working on my parents’ GX470...close enough,same chassis. Replacing the leaking rear airbags with Arnott brand bags,driver side wasn’t too bad but the passenger side is being a PITA so I’m taking a break.

I also sprayed the surrounding areas with Fluid Film, in hind sight I should’ve waited until both bags were installed because my arms now have a nice coating of Fluid Film.

Alignment

After installing the lift, went and got my alignment done today. Wasn't as far off as I see some, but I'm still happy I went with the JBA UCA's even though I've no clue how much they helped in that regard. Not sure why the picture is uploading sideways, but you guys get it!

Left Rear fixes:

• E-brake shoes.. 3 times... 4th adjustment to come tomorrow

• E-brake hardware

• Rubber brake line to metal line

• 40" metal brake line to rubber line at diff (matched bends of factory close enough)

Technically yesterday but took misfit Sally out for a stretch and bent a rear lower link.

Used 4Lo and locked the Differential to go have a blast blasting through all the drifts here in Green Bay.

We may break the record, but it is now the 3rd biggest snowfall since they started recording the weather here and worst blizzard since 1889.

I’m loving it!

Wife’s exact words when I showed her how easily the 4runner went up the steep snow covered hills, with about 10” on the road, “You’re definitely getting me one of these”. :becky:

today I installed new taillights, as the driver light would always get condensation. so I just bought a new set with the intent to dry out the stock one then silicone it and have an extra set.
OK IF, I did this right, lol
The "stock" pic is the stock taillight with condensation., just today.
The "replacement" is the new light, I cant tell a difference.
The "side" pic is well the side of the new one lol.
and the you have a "Side by side" the stock light Im holding, the new one mounted.

I was getting tired of the sag in my 2” Icon rear springs when fully loaded so I decided to upgrade to the 3” Overland springs from Icon.

I’ve read several posts complaining about the stiffness of the springs w/o a rear bumper but I’m actually happy with the unloaded ride so far. It’s a little stiffer but nothing out of control. It actually handles better on canyon roads with the added stiffness. Plus, it’s dual rate. So unloaded it rides on the top part of the spring, which is softer and fully loaded rides on the stiffer lower part of the spring. See pic below.

We maxed out my front coilovers to help with the rake but it’s still pretty extreme. It’s about an 1 1/2” height difference from front to back.

We’re headed to Moab this weekend so I’m hoping the springs will settle after the trip.

Not 4th gen specific but I worked on a 5th gen and took it out for a test drive.

Makes me enjoy my 4th gen mucho better

I've done nothing with my 4runner today. But I want to.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but can anyone recommend a simple radio that has the OEM look, and would fit easily in a 2008 4Runner, but has Bluetooth? PM's appreciated so as to not clutter the thread.

I know you said you wanted OEM but in all honesty once you go touchscreen with the bluetooth you'll never look back. I got a pioneer 4800bs from best buy for $225 since they pricematch from amazon. originally listed for $399. completely changed the quality of the sound plus the hands free calling is amazing.
