What did you do with your 4runner today?

Started swapping everything over from the rusty tail gate to the non-rusty shell that I got from another 4runner. There is a lot of crap to swap over haha

Any tips of getting this done? Might be helping a friend do this and wondering if it's somewhat straight forward or worth getting a shop to do the transfer?

Got my Rago racks installed yesterday...damn they're nice!

Also noticed my newly installed 3rd member is leaking slightly, most likely from me brushing the RTV gasket during the install...so I get to do that job all over again tomorrow night :/

It's not too bad, just keep a track of all your nuts and bolts.

-Definitely need two people to take the tailgate off.
-When removing the glass, remove the rubber weather strips first and then pull the glass out (requires rotating the glass).
-When plugging back in the computer module for the lock and glass, insert the computer plug first before doing the power plug, otherwise the rear hatch won't auto-close. This could also be resolved by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes too I think.
-Cable clips for the harness inside are relatively easy to remove with a flathead but if you have a clip removal tool then it's cake.

Everything else is a pretty straightforward swap. Took me a whole day but I had a lot of breaks and just slowly going through to make sure everything was in the right place

My TRD Rock Warrior shift knob came in today, and it is currently installed! I also purchased some 8mm set screws to thread one down into the hole. The knob threaded on perfectly, but it sits ever so slightly too low and won't allow me to shift into the lower gears without a bit of spacing.

The options were either use the set screws, or dremel away a small amount where it is making contact with the shift panel. Going to try the set screw first, as I'd prefer not to take a dremel to my $90 shift knob...lol

Also getting a new windshield installed today, as mine has been to hell and back after a lifetime of living in the desert. Sitting around waiting for the safelite guy to show up.

Where'd you get the set screws from? The ones I got m8x1.25 were slightly too small to fit. Maybe they sent me the wrong size...

$715.50--they did 10% off at the Jamboree and no tax plus no shipping ($95) since I picked it up...ended up saving a total of about $175 vs if I had ordered online and had it sent here. My buddy bought a 5th gen so I had to go up there and pick his up--all the options they brought were standard setup with no lightbar cutout and black coating. His came with the 1x1" to clear his sharkfin which used to be a $30 upgrade so he saved a bit over $200

All in all total discount ended up being right around 20%



They are still selling racks. I had emailed Prinsu and CBI to confirm lead times about a week ago before I realized I could wait for the Jamboree to see if they had them in stock. All ordering is still done through the Prinsu website and they said lead times are 1-2 weeks (though it could be less). They had two of each rack at the Jamboree and sold about half--mainly the Tacoma ones though. They still had at least one of all the 4R options though so if you ordered soon it should be in stock right now.

That’s great to hear. As much as I like front runner and eezi awn k9, you cant beat a good solid rack for half the price of those.

Prob going to be placing my order in another month or so.

Sounds great to me. And 2 days response time from a reach out to the info email on their website is pretty good. Seems like CBI is on top of things on their end.

The desert heat is climbing back up, so I decided to nip it in the bud and got everything tinted. Limo Ceramic Tint all around as well as 35% on the windshield. What a tremendous difference it makes.

Also have OEM LED Tail Lights on order... one has arrived, still waiting on the other. The season has been good to me at work, and I'm thrilled with the amount of things I've been able to check off my to-do list so far.

Next up is a new bumper/prinsu roof rack, but that may have to wait til next season. The snow birds are already starting to leave the valley in droves, so business is going to slow down dramatically.

Holy cop magnet and ticket getter. Is that legal in CA? In Oregon you would have a ticket in hours with that kind of tint. You can easy get away with 20% (legal is 35%) but under that cops start to look. Tint on the windshield is also a huge no no, were only allowed I think 6" on top.

It's definitely not within CA guidelines at all. Local law enforcement here is pretty lenient with regards to window tint. 120+ degrees in the summer is no joke.
