What did you do with your 4runner today?

Today I trimmed my mudflap on the drivers side. I dont know why, my tires never rubbed until I lifted my 4runner last weekend. And only the drivers side rubs.

Most of there sway bar links are made in Japan butttt tie rod ends that I’ve gotten for my 4th gen Seem to be made in Indonesia… This was two days after I installed them, mind you I live in California and there has been no rain! Tip for others paint them before you put them on!

I gave them a coat of paint before installing. I believe Moog doesnt manufacture anything, they just buy other products and resell them under their name. Since the rear links are from Japan they are probably the same as the OE.

When I worked at Autozone I noticed that duralast is the same in that they buy someone elses product and sell it as their own. I once pulled a part from our shelf for a Honda, I believe it was and ignition switch, and the part in the box had Denso molded on the part. I also came across a couple bearings labeled Koyo.

Did a Front diff and transfer case gear oil change today. Also put these decals on that I got from another forum member

Finally figured out my newest front creak/pop. My sway bar centering rings have shifted allowing my sway bar to move sideways and make contact with my skid plate! I ordered some "28-30mm sway bar lateral limiters" to try and tie it back to the center.

Also drilled out some loose rivets on the DFG tilting fridge slide latching mechanism and replaced with 1/4"-20 bolts. Solid now!

I was rotating my tires this past week when my fairly new (Nov 2017) Arcan floor jack failed. I had the front P side up on a stand and I was raising my rear P side. My rear wheel was nearly off the ground when it decided to lower on its own. I spun the handle to tighten it again thinking I must have unlocked it. The handle just kept spinning clockwise without locking as if the locking mechanism was stripped internally. Luckily I still had my bottle jack and/or my old floor jack to help me get it down off the stands.

I already ordered a new one and plan to return the old one back to Costco next time I go.

Just another reminder to never work under your vehicle without stands. All jacks can fail.

New key fob

My new key fob shell from https://www.ajtdesign-llc.com/online-store came in today. Can't say enough about the quality and looks over the factory fob.

Was always worried about breaking the little loop the key ring threads through. This should alleviate that concern, not to mention it looks amazing! I went cement with black screws. Took all of two minutes to do the swap of the internals from old to new.

In the future, buy the Beck/Arnley ones. I recently bought inner and outer ones ,both are made in Japan.

I don't have permission yet to post a thread so I thought I would ask in here.

I just purchased an 06 2wd from a dealer around 4 months ago. Everything has been great until around the last month. I feel as if the dealer found a way to mask some issues because I am getting a lot of speaking, clunking, etc now.

One issue in particular is a loud squeaking I get from the rear. The squeak is loudest at very low speed and it is speed sensitive. Example: I get in the truck and as I slowly leave the parking lot in my complex, I get

SQUEAK........................SQUEAK...............SQUEAK.........SQUEAK......SQUEAK....SQUEAK...SQUEAK..SQUEAK.SQUEAK.SQUEAK.SQUEAKSQUEAKSQUEAKSQUEAK

After I get going 10 or 15mph, I don't hear a thing.

Bad u joint???? I have done a ton of research and can't quite pinpoint exactly what it is.

As far as the little clunks I am getting, they are coming from the front over bumps and during driving so I am pretty sure its bushings. Any help on this squeaking from the rear would be amazing.

Update: I went to check the mail and tested a little bit. The noise stopped when I would just barely engage the brake. Seems brake related... which is kind of a sigh of relief.

On a side note, the girlfriend has been complaining that she can't charge her phone in the truck because the cig lighter is kaput. I know how hard it is to plug in your phone before bed each night...

Fixed the outlet... blown fuse. :wink2:

Put in Odyssey Group 34R battery and a new battery clamp from AJT Designs. Enjoying both so far. Don't want the ARB Fridge to kill my battery again.

Got some new tires and washed it. Went with 255/75-17 Goodyear Duratracs. Yes, they're SL tires, but I don't ever find myself in sharp rocks. Very pleased with them so far, and looking forward to getting them on some dirt.
