Stopped by a Toyota dealer on the way home and bought all 5 outer window seals/trim. Probably going to swap those out in a few minutes.

Do yourself a favor when you get the new seals in, spray or wipe them with Aerospace303 a few times per year. Rag in one hand, spray bottle in the other. You should never have to replace rubber seals if cared for properly. Rubber, plastic, vinyl can survive a long time with proper care. Leather the same, I'm a big fan of leather seats, they last a long time if cared for.

I spent the whole weekend in ridiculous, near 100 deg. temps sandblasting, priming, and painting the undercarriage of my '04. It was pretty rusty, and I've been wanting to do it for awhile now, but what really got me off the fence was that I want to install my new TRD stainless exhaust that I polished, and there is no way I wanted to install it with the underside looking like that! Not to mention, I definitely didn't want to try to work around the new system either! I had a lot of access because I had already pulled the spare, and the entire tailpipe broke off at the muffler. Probably install the new duals on the 4th. Can't wait! Then it's suspension time.

what sandblaster/sand did you use?
I really want to do this too

I'm also interested in what you used for a sandblaster setup, as well as what you used to paint the frame after. I've been using a wire brush and POR15, but I'd rather use a method that gets down to bare steel.

Well, my dad owns a commercial sandblasting company, so I spent a good part of my life sandblasting automotive stuff as well as heavy equipment, so if I was smart, and my schedule lined up, I would’ve went to his shop to do it, instead of the way I did it. My own blaster is much smaller and less powerful, so it took a lot longer to do. Originally I planned to just do from the rear end housing back since that is where the exhaust will be, and I had some rust on the welds of my hitch, etc., but once I was into it, I kept moving forward. I ended up doing everything all the way to the front wheels, since that’s all I could reach with the rear up on ramps. Next time I’ll finish the front section, but that won’t be as time consuming.

Anyway, my personal blaster is a highly modified pressure tank style that started life as a 110lb. capacity model from Harbor Freight. It worked ok for very small parts as it was, but would be way too weak to effectively do a job of this scope unless you have A LOT of time and sand. I redesigned the flow plumbing, as well as making a longer, larger ID blast hose, and nozzle assembly. The tiny ceramic nozzles that HF supplies are part of the problem because they don’t flow adequate volume to do big stuff. The one I used was bought at a sandblasting supply house, designed for much larger commercial machines. It is still small compared to what my dad’s equipment uses though.

For paint, I would’ve preferred to have used POR15 then topcoated with some acrylic enamel for protection, but because of the timing, I just had to get it done when it fit my schedule, and couldn’t wait to order the POR, so I ended up spraying it with red oxide Rustoleum primer, and topcoating with gloss black enamel. I originally wanted to go with satin black, but gloss holds up better for undercarriage stuff in my experience, and on a daily driver, will dull down a bit anyway, but the gloss will make it very easy to keep clean.

I have some Icon 2.0 shocks and new springs going on after the exhaust is done, so I definitely didn’t want to be sandblasting and painting back there later!

Had myself a busy Canada Day long weekend doing a bunch of minor things.

Replaced a leaking/fogged out headlight, removed a 30 pin Apple adapter for a much better USB charger and audio plug, replaced a burnt out console bulb, changed out the spark plugs, installed a set of AVS vent visors, installed a Resse brake controller and Protect Dipped the chrome grill. I bunch of things that I've been meaning to do since I bought her this winter. Next big job will be to tackle the suspension.

love the charge/audio outlet

Well, I spent my day off on the 4th installing my new TRD duals after doing the sandblasting and painting underneath last weekend. Love the look and sound so far. I do kind of wish that the tips were straight out the rear though, instead of the 45 degree angles they are, but I suppose I could always cut the tips off, and have some elbow extensions made if it really bothers me later.

Do you frequently use your rear window? I would suggest not having them go straight out the back if that is the case.

Hmm, I guess that’s why they angled them to the side... did not know that, thanks for pointing that out! I actually have never driven with it down (yet), but use it a lot when I’m working to access tools so I don’t have to keep opening and closing the entire hatch.

Not today but yesterday had a new set of Michelin Defender LTX installed, ride is smooth as silk now, loving it!!

That’s what is on my truck too. They’re great tires.

Had those on my Explorer and they were the best tires I ever had on a truck! I have considered putting them on my Runner because I need new wheels and tires, but I love the look of the more aggressive tread that tires like the KO2 have, so now I have that stuck in my head for aesthetic reasons only. If it wasn’t for that though, I wouldn’t hesitate to put those Michelin tires on this one too!

Drove out to my farm yesterday to run my 4wd system a bit then I started to tear down my fathers 06 Ktm 450 to clean it and start a carb rebuild so he can sell it in working condition
