What did you do with your 4runner today?

It was yesterday, but I had to take the dash apart to get at the USB port on the back of my Pioneer MVH-2400NEX to update the firmware so it would play nicely with my Pixel 2XL phone. While I was waiting for that to finish I swapped the gauge cluster plastic to the new one I bought a couple of weeks ago. So much nicer than the old, dirty, scratched, hazy plastic that was on there.

For those that don't want to replace the gage cluster due to scratches, some Meguairs plastic polish will clean that up for you. Worked on my Miata, but have not needed to do it on the 4runner.

Ha, I have a Miata also. I’ve seen others on here mention them as well. I wonder how many on here also have them? Mine is a 2000SE btw.:cheers:

Wired in under hood LEDs. No pics yet but they're there. Need to work out a bug in the wiring, but haven't had time. Gonna be super handy if I need light under the hood, and it's RGB so it'll also be good for when I want to show off the new grill... when that gets done.

No. Didn't have much time. Just cleaned from the front and as much as I can from the back side from my finger. Will do a thorough cleaning next spring or summer.

i have tried that and it just didnt worked that good to me, so i just spend around 30 for a new cluster lens.

Same here, except I haven’t gotten around to buying a new lens yet. The scratches from before I owned it were just too deep to get out with plastic polish. I suspect someone at some point just tried wiping the dirty lens with a dry cloth or something, which was pretty much the same as using sandpaper to clean it.

Needed new lower ball joints, so I changed out the lower control arms with new OEM ones. Now I've got new LCA, lower ball joints, and bushings. The passenger side was a breeze, while the driver side was a PIA...I did manage to get out the frozen sleeve in the bushing, without doing any damage. Also installed some new Proforged front sway bar links. Before and after pic.

Not a bad idea, I have some orange Paracord that would look great.

I'm currently weaving an 8 foot King cobra dog leash. The time spent on Paracord weaving really makes you appreciate it that much more.

You can try this version of the flip key. It feels pretty OEM with hard plastic buttons plus a built in LED. Yours looks like my former RS4 key. Those didn’t feel as great imo

Spent this past weekend driving the 4runner pretty much clear across the entire state of washington to pick up my first motorcycle. A 2007 yamaha wr250f. I picked up a hitch rack which worked shockingly well for only costing around $100. I have an aftermarket hitch with a 500 lb tongue weight limit. Bike weighs 240 lbs and the rack probably 50 lbs. It didn't even really sag my stock springs. I've got bilstein 5100's with the fronts on the .85 setting so the front is higher than stock and nearly level. With the bike, it was pretty much level. I'll probably mount some lights/signals on the rack though, maybe even relocate my plate since they're all covered by the bike. I'll probably coat the thing in bed liner paint to prevent rust.

From experience, I would not move your license plate. You're only (I assume) going to be hauling your bike around occasionally and moving your plate every time would be a PITA.

JUST FINISHED THE HEAD GASKET JOB!
Drove the 2005 for the first time in 3 weeks. It started up so nice and smooth. Check engine lights went out in about 30 seconds after start-up. Idle is soooo smooth now.

All the bolts I took off the engine went back in. I only broke a few plastic hose holders.

All the stuff I had to buy. Mostly not OEM, so we'll see how it all holds up.

• Head gaskets
• Valve stem seals
• Fuel injector seals
• Plugs
• Water pump
• Misc coolant passage o-rings
• Toyota FIPG for timing cover
• Fan clutch
• Thermostat
• ONE idler pulley
• Serpentine belt
• Coolant
• Special crank removal tool

I need a new coolant reservoir lid as mine won't stay popped on the overflow for some reason. The innards are all deformed.
