What did you do with your 4runner today?

Got my RTT in and on--made a custom sheet set for it as well. The fly poles on the awning side barely fit in though so I'm going to need to mess with it some. I'll probably have to take the tent off and flip the awning brackets. If that doesn't provide enough clearance I may have to just get the 1" tent feet from Prinsu

Current situation...... my CVJ axles keep tearing boots. The outer (tire side) which is weird. I called them and they recommended OEM boots as I had just been buying their standard (garbage soft rubber) boots on the replacement axles. On the bright side re booting isn’t as hard as I thought, just messy. A large trash bag and plenty of shop towels help.

Put the Rad Rubber splash guards on. Spent more time pulling the old push tabs out than I did installing. My previous guards were completely gone. View attachment 336784

Drove 500 miles round trip, towing a 3,300lb boat. Averaged 15.5 mpg. Two thirds of the miles were interstate at 75mph, balance of the miles were flat state highways at 60mph. Great drive and vehicle.

BTW...that tough to remove stuff like bug hits and the gritty tar and other crap that gets thrown up on the rocker panels? I don’t like using harsh chemicals or solvents, and if you add a little car wash soap and some baking powder to a sponge or scrubby, that gunk dissolves in a hurry. Sounds like advice from grandma but it works.

Not OP but I have a couple. Both coat the same, but the pressure washer one is better for the whole car, the hose one is better for my bikes or smaller areas.

- I have to switch back & forth between the foam cannon & nozzle a bunch of times, which is a PITA and also leaves...

- My gas pressure washer running for a long time burning through fuel but not really accomplishing much work.

I picked up this HF foam gun today that goes on the regular hose and can be switched between water & foam. I’ll try it on my other half’s Acura then decide.

Already plasti-dipped the entire interior. Got rid of the grey and went black. Midnight Purple and Chameleon (roof and seats are still grey tho....). (Roof will be in the near future). Just nervous about taking it apart and breaking something.).

The Plati-dip kept rubbing off on the doors so I will give the wrap a shot.

Chameleon wrap worked pretty well on the center console.

i use the foam cannon too, with a power washer, i also use a mitt after i lather up the truck, it just makes it so sleek and helps. chemical guys soap is pretty good to me, im using the watermelon since i ran out of honeydew.

I looked at the Chemical Guys soap and people love it. Decided to check locally and found some Meguiar's Gold on sale for $5 so I'm going to try that. In the meantime, the pic is actually the old car wash soap I bought probably close to 10 years ago. The foam cannon turned that into snow foam with no problem whatsoever.

One thing about the one I got is that it has an adjustment knob to control the amount of soap but turning it to one extreme or the other seemed to produce the exact same result in terms of coverage and thickness. I really like the cannon and if the foam gun doesn't work out, I'll see if I can figure out a way to foam the whole truck, use the mitt, then rinse so I can turn off the pressure washer in the meantime. Something like doing it very early in the morning might be okay.

That might help since the humidity starts off at 99% virtually every day in north Georgia, something that surprised me when I moved here.

While I'm here, seriously try the baking soda thing. The crud on the front end and rockers, especially right behind the wheel wells, has always been an issue but a little elbow grease takes it off in a hurry. The thought of having to clean more of that off had me on the fence about removing my front mud flaps and cutting the rears (so the gaps in the well are covered) but that's now on my upcoming mod list.

Finally, the windshield was the one thing that has always bugged me about my truck - it seems to have a million little nicks that reflect light when the sun is at the right (wrong?) angle. I was looking at the various polishes and such but then got quite a pleasant surprise. I tried a technique from YouTube featuring Barkeeper's Friend (they make a powder version but I used the liquid and used the baking soda as a very mild abrasive). I haven't gotten to the side windows to see if the seemingly permanent water spots come off like in the video, but I used it with some baking soda on the windshield and am frankly shocked at the difference. Apparently it's not just the little nicks that were the issue but all the road grime and oily film that builds up and never comes off with normal glass cleaners. This method stripped it all off and the windshield looks as close to factory clear as I can imagine it being after 12 years of use. Glare is drastically reduced and it's just about a crystal-clear view. Highly recommend it.

Looks good. Had something similar on my old Xterra. You might consider some reflective tape on the rear-facing edges as an additional deterrent to knuckleheads hitting it.

I got a flat tire today. Good thing I sprung for the full size matching spare. Looks like scrap metal, right in the center of my tread. Hopefully it can be patched.

I pushed mine a little bit, then had to push them a tad more once I got my wheels/tires on. I went with the wildpeaks as well and love them!
