What did you do with your 4runner today?

Thanks I went with the medium OME kit, 885 fronts and 2895 rears. So far ride is much improved over the worn out stock suspension. Way less floating feeling over bumps and practically no nose dive when braking and a lot less body roll as well. Ride is definitely stiff but responsive

Thanks for posting this. When I saw this post with pics attached, I ordered a set for myself since mine were completed gone as well. These are high quality rubber, better than OEM. Very satisfied.

Pads
Front calipers
Brake Fluid flush (free)
Tire rotation (free)
Synthetic Oil Change
State Inspection

Ordered a:
New Denso Radiator
two hoses
a couple clamps
new AFE filter

Addressed one of the few WTF items on 4th Gens. Because having the A/C drain tube drip water straight onto frames that are often rusting right out from under the truck makes perfect sense, right? :nono:

It's nearly finished!

I finished the last steps on my Coastal Off-Road Swing out rear bumper today. I can honestly understand why companies charge as much as they do for a pre-built bumper. They are a lot of work! Having said that, I am so beyond thrilled to be nearly finished. It's all primed, just waiting til tomorrow to throw the paint on!

I would have finished it much faster, but I live in the desert and my garage gets HOT! So I was relegated to working super early, and late into the evening. Problem is, my neighbors will hate me if I'm running an angle grinder at 11 PM lol. Pretty sure I blinded a few people driving by in golf carts while I was welding. I felt pretty cool though!

Only thing I've really got to do other than paint it, is figure out where to mount my license plate. Then run a new light to it, should be pretty painless though!

Replaced my battery. Yesterday when I got in my truck to go to work I turned the key and nothing happened, tried again and it fired right up. Same thing happened after work so decided it was time for a new battery sine the old one was over 4 years old.

She's finished!

Laid down two layers of black enamel today. It feels incredibly good to be finished, and to also know I welded this beast together myself! Thanks again to Brandon at Coastal-Off Road for making one hell of a bumper kit. This was literally the first thing I've ever welded in my life. Heck, this was the first time I've ground and cut metal in my life.

I need to figure out the best type of lug nuts or nuts to secure my spare. The ones I got at auto zone had threads made of butter, and just didn't leave me feeling confident. Does anyone have any suggestions? They are standard M12 x1.5 45mm. Mounting a standard 16" Toyota rim for now with a 265/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler. Still need to order matching FN FX Pro and the appropriate tire.

This is the only pic I could really snap right now. The paint is only a few hours old, and I didn't want to risk driving it through some water or getting something on there.

Use whatever lug nuts you use on the rest of your truck, so they match and you have a couple spares you can steal from the rear tire in an emergency.

Installed a little hitch step I fabricobbled with my harbor freight welder and some scrap metal I had kicking around. Super functional and I'll make another one for my buddies Xterra.

Looks good. Had something similar on my old Xterra. You might consider some reflective tape on the rear-facing edges as an additional deterrent to knuckleheads hitting it.

The beauty of spray paint is that if it gets scratched, you just spray more on to make it look brand new again.

My thought process exactly! Did the same with my sliders. Save money on bare metal and get convenient touch up!

For now I'm just going to attach it to the spare, yes. I'm thinking I'll probably get a metal license plate bracket to affix to the swing arm for a more permanent solution.

Some more progress and activities

Finally took care of a few minor tasks:

• applied KevianClean Interior Defense throughout
• cleaned inside of windows using Stoner Invisible Glass
• installed switch inside center console next to AC outlet to prevent full-time dual-USB charger port from draining battery during long absences
• finally identified source of occasional loud clunk as loose GPS antenna banging against the windshield, will need to attach properly

More progress and fun activities during the first half of this year:

• successfully used Autowit battery-less supercapacitor jump starter to start car after letting it sit for 10 weeks - seems to be a great device
• installed ARB 5421100 skid plates (except transmission, which doesn't readily bolt on to these early 2003/04 V8 models)
• obtained room-darkening curtain panel (attached to top of grab handles behind front seats using bungee cord) for more privacy while camping
• added Garmin 56 Dash Cam (still need to hard-wire power from overhead console/sunroof)
• added Nexus 7 2013 LTE tablet for offline navigation and APRS using RAM Mount X-Grip
• using iSaddle Super Mini BT OBD2 adapter with Torque app to monitor transmission temperature
• went to the River Road Rally Park in McHenry, IL
• went on a 10-day trip on the southwestern section of the Kentucky Adventure Tour (KAT 4x4), Big South Fork NRRA, Max Patch (Pisgah NF), Hot Springs, NC, and Great Smoky Mountains NP
• en route attended BOLD Overland's Dirt and Donuts meet & greet event in Knoxville, TN, where I received my first patch ever (and had the only dirty rig at the event)
