Looks good, how was the install? And how do they function as running boards?



I can't stand my running boards but have little kids so I'm hoping a slider upgrade will make everyone happy.

Not the original person you asked, but I have some input. I have White Knuckle Off-Road sliders, which by looking at these photos, are very similar design. I got them with the diamond plate top plates and their normal (I believe) 9 degree upwards angle. Kids use them no problem to get in and out, they’re just a bit narrow because of the angle.

If you got them with 0 angle they would work even better. The diamond plates are pretty good for traction too. Pics for kicks lol.

Good thing about plastidip is you can undo it if you hate it. If you love it, find a powdercoat shop near you, they can closely match most colors.

Yeah, my thing is that I really don't wanna put in the money to powder coat wheels that're gonna get beaten up offroad. IMO plastidip will look good enough (I got a full 'kit'), will protect the wheel itself, and will be replaceable if it does get scuffed up.

I found a set of the Tundra wheels for $100 local to me, but they are peeling in areas pretty bad. I haven't talked to a powdercoating shop yet, but do these look save-able? I'm assuming they will have to be sandblasted or something to strip them.

That was going to be my suggestion exactly. A sandblast should take most of that off and leave a good surface for the powder. Might end up being a bit pricy but those are awesome wheels and you scored them for a steal anyway!

Cool, and I figured for $100 just grab them now and throw them in the storage unit for now until I'm closer to needing new tires...I don't feel as bad if I can get stuff on a deal and do work in stages so the sticker cost doesn't hit me and I can convince myself it is still a budget build. :help:

Changed out 3 idler pulley, 1 tensioner pulley, and serpentine belt yesterday. Only to find out that was only part of the grinding noise I had. Spun the alternator and was hard to turn , yup the bearings are toast. 4 pulleys, an alternator later and a few beers it's nice and quiet again. Happy Holidays T4R!

Added a USB port to my dash storage compartment ( not sure what it is really called). Connected that to my Pioneer system to easily access Apple CarPlay. Got the USB plug from my kids for Christmas. Also installed some door guards that they bought me for Christmas.

Bought my engine gasket kit, head bolts, and the head bolt tool in preparation for my head gasket job. Taking her to the shop for it on the 19th, but fortunately they're letting me order my own parts.

Got everything for <$300 though, so I consider that a win!

I found an OEM kit on eBay. As long as you make sure it's the right one and is complete, it's a good place to find deals on that sorta thing.

Both technically. I got with a local fab shop that doesn't have a 4th gen rear yet, as the first one. They do great work and I'm very particular, so I got to "spec" it out the way I wanted. Once they're done and we get it fine tuned it will be available for purchase!

The website might be awful lol, but the quality and price is hard to beat.

Dammit, just when I thought I'd found the Tundra wheel deal of the year, ya had to best me!

Yeah, a sandblast would make those good as new. Peeling paint isn't hard to deal with - stuff like actual curbing/scuffs are where things get complicated.

Alternatively, if you don't want a shop to do the work and don't mind getting dirty, you can strip them all down with aircraft remover. It's nasty stuff, but will do the job perfectly.

Mine will have a single swing-out with tire carrier and Rotopax mount, but things like that are customizable.

I can ask about a DIY kit, but I'm not sure if he would be interested. I'm assuming he doesn't currently offer them for a reason.

Have you looked at the rubber bushings where the sway bar attaches to the frame? Mine clunked too and I noticed some space between the bar and rubber. To see if that was the issue I loosened the brackets, shoved some bicycle tube between the bar and the old bushing then tightened it back up. No more noise, it's been a year and I haven't got back in there to replace the bushings but it's still quiet. Maybe in the spring I'll do a proper job but good enough for now.

I'll second the swaybar bushings....I just did mine and solved the annoying clunk I couldn't find previously. Took all of 10 mins.:cheer2:
