What did you do with your 4runner today?

How long did that process take for removing the pinstripes? I’ve been thinking about doing that as well.

With a random orbit polisher it took him like 2 hours to do a *very* quick job, and he didn't do the front bumper or the roof. To do it really well it would probably take closer to 4 hours.

I had a shop quote me almost $400 to do it (would've been professional quality), which I didn't wanna drop on something that's gonna get run through branches. So when my friend said he'd do a quick job that got the worst bits out for $20 and lunch I took him up on it

I used 3/8” trans cooler hose, 3/8” brass double barbed fittings and hose clamps.

So you replaced the steel lines with rubber? I was thinking about replacing them with brake line or maybe copper tubing.

Yes i replaced the steel with rubber. I had read some people used brake lines as well. I just went to hose route out of simplicity. I don’t think pressure is an issue, but we shall see.

First 5 tire rotation for the old girl yesterday as I finally have a full size spare. Today did the easiest oil change in my life. I’m telling you guys that haven’t hopped on the Fumoto bandwagon yet, do it. A twist through the hole in my skid (aftermarket) let it drain and fill it up. Also got one of these oil filter sockets finally and no more rage trying to twist it off by hand or using a shitty oil filter wrench. All I ever did was dent the filters with the wrenches.

Looks good, how was the install? And how do they function as running boards?

I can't stand my running boards but have little kids so I'm hoping a slider upgrade will make everyone happy.

I also welded up my RCI sliders yesterday. I still need to ziptie the airlines on both side.

It was pretty easy, did it solo, used a 2x4 on a floor jack to raise them into position. They work well as a step for getting in and out, if that's the only reason you're keeping your running boards, I think you'll find the sliders fit the bill. I did put some grip tape on them to help with traction.

Let's me talk to my wheeling buddies on Mars. When I got home I removed the rack, jack, and the lights up near the top of the hood. Will re-attach when the rig is ready to go camping. It's rough around the edges and needs some love, but not bad for $5k.

Good thing about plastidip is you can undo it if you hate it. If you love it, find a powdercoat shop near you, they can closely match most colors.
