What did you do with your 4runner today?

New wheels :bounce:

Looks good! I just put the same set of wheels on mine late last year. Love them so far. And you're local to me! Maybe we'll see each other around.

Well I was going to install the molle panel from Victory 4x4 but just like my luck, they sent me the wrong one. They sent a 5th gen panel, Im hoping the one thats already on its way, is the correct item. Really SUX, when a company ships the WRONG item.

I'm sorry to hear this! Could you message me your contact info/order number so we can get the correct one to you?

Well last week I sold my 4th gen with 150k on it for a new 2020 Taco TRD sport. It’s been real and I appreciate all the help this site has given me and don’t appreciate what it did to my bank account lol

Last strut done and unlike the other side that took hours I had that sucker done in under 30 min! It might have been a little dangerous how fast I did that with the at home spring compressor!

Not having a frozen lower control arm makes all all the difference.

Few more fluid changes and radio install and it will be good to go for a bit.

I might actually get it on the road tomorrow. That will be exciting.

Hats off to Toytec and Victory4x4 :hail:
This is proof, we are all human and make mistakes from time to time and good companies step up and make things right.

Haven't done anything recently but getting ready to.

Timing belt and accessory stuff followed by an intake swap to a 2005 VVT plastic intake from a Tundra and new 12 hole injectors that I'm expecting in a couple days. Valve cover is because I managed to over-tighten the PCV valve on the original one and cracked it. No leaks but the replacement cover was cheap so why not.

Not a big thing, but used chemical guys wash and microfiber mitt and got a great wash, used their tire shine to shine the tires and other trim pieces. Biggest win, using turtlewax ice on the paint. Water beads up and runs right off, this stuff is amazing. Got the truck in wonderful condition and want to keep it that way.

ive been in the game awhile and the OG best wax and value in my opinion is turtle wax believe it or not. cant go wrong with some OG hardshell turtle wax.
spend $ on meguiars, mothers, griots, etc. etc if you want, but turtle wax will be as good. ive used them all from my VW and WRX days.

After messing with it (cycling it in and off) for just over two weeks I had resigned that my new to me V8 4Runner needed a new 4WD actuator. What did I do to it today? I got it into 4LO and it worked great! Now I don't have to fork out all that dough. Now I love it even more than before! I guess it just goes to show a little perseverance goes a long way.

Yes, boys. I'm no pro but I normally eff with Chemical Guys and Griot's stuff, but a couple of weekends ago I had planned to do a full paint correction followed by ceramic coating on the Raptor, but got lazy and after looking at some great reviews ended up doing a Turtle Wax polishing compound and finishing up with TW Seal and Shine and man I'm impressed with that stuff. Ended up putting a coat of S&S one the 4Runner and wife's Venza as well. Good stuff. The Runner already has a ceramic coat on it and eventually I'll get around to putting one down on the Raptor, but I wanted to check this stuff out and see what all the hype was about.

Well,.what'd you do? Need to do the same...

Literally all I did was take a few minutes each day and cycle the system from 4Hi to 4Lo (those are my only options because of the V8). I'd roll it forward in the driveway, then backward. Then I'd give up and go on about my day.

I fully expected to have to replace the actuator due to non-use by the previous owner, but I read on here sometimes they get stuck and can be brought back to life. I guess I got lucky.

A couple days ago I thought "what the hell" and while I was at a very long Northern Virginia stoplight I put it in 4Lo. It flashed a couple times then went solid! Success!!! It works just as designed now.

Oooooh. I wonder if I could do this swap on my 3UZ GS430....that metal intake is a pain to remove.

Toyota has a cool design feature for their V8 intake, they call it ACIS; Acoustic Control Induction System. With butterfly valves, it can bypass the long runners when at higher rpm. Best of both worlds.

Is that a 2uz aluminum intake? I didn't think they had the butterflies in them. I know the plastic ones are slightly longer runners. Power gains with the plastic over the 2003 aluminum intake should be more low-mid range hp and torque from my understanding.

I wish the plastic intake could be broken down like that aluminum one. Would make cleaning it before install much easier!

That picture is from a 1UZ. Should bolt up to a 2UZ IIRC.

I noticed a bunch of grime inside of my intake when I removed the intake tube a couple years ago. Haven't gotten around to cleaning it though.

Today was the day to update the window tint from the previous terrible job. Blacked out the back to help keep wandering eyes from easily spying on any gear that ends up in there. Every little bit helps!

That plastic intake swap is pretty intriguing. I haven’t read about that swap before. Is it a straight bolt on the the the older ‘03-‘04 engines, or does it require other mods? Where did you buy it? Also, what’s the story with the “12 hole injectors”? I haven’t heard anything about those either.

It's more popular with the Tundra folks. Straight bolt on, no mods needed. The plastic intake has slightly longer intake tracts than the aluminum one and are also variable length. The butterfly valves inside the intake are vacuum controlled from the back of the intake manifold. The plastic is also lighter than the aluminum. Not sure by how much yet tho but I'll find out.

Intake, TB and fuel rails (need different ones for the different intake) all came off ebay.

The stock injectors are 4 hole. The 12 hole injectors give a better, finer spray mist than the 4 hole do. Better atomization should lead to better power and gas mileage.

All said and done, it should provide better low to mid-range power and torque with a slight sacrifice to top end power, which I really don't care about. For around $500, i figured it's worth a shot. Tundra guys claim it works, I've also seen posts by GS guys doing the same thing. I'm sure someone out there has dyno numbers to verify the changes are worth it.
