What did you do with your 4runner today?

Purchased day before Thanksgiving. So far: new headlamps, LED low/high bulbs, roof rack, 5th gen wheels/tires, new LCAs coming, changed the air filter, all wipers, and rear differential fluid. Getting the frame welded next week, 2 1” holes in the right side

Why is it the littlest $#%@! things that can be the most tedious? I guess because I wanted to replace interior bulbs afterward...

Tried to replace my rear plate light bulbs with LEDs today. All four screw heads were rusty, but the right two were so caked that the Phillips pattern couldn't be made out. Successfully drilled and backed one out with a removal bit. The other cost me two fine drill bits, one whose tip it ate, and still wouldn't back out before the rain started. Should've had a couple o' beers beforehand. :frusty: :laugh:

At least all the windows got a thorough shot o' Rain-X before startin' that little slice o' heaven. :rain:

Not today, but yesterday. Put new tires on my '04 4ruunner.
Had Hankook Dyna pro's on before-excellent tires in snow & mud but gave a ride that was a bit too harsh for my wife's liking so I decided to replace them with a P metric tire & opted for Firestone Destination A/T 2's.
Now she's happy again with the smoother ride.

Those stupid screws, ugh. I basically ripped my plastics up getting them out because I needed to replace a bad bulb. The lenses are now held together with zip ties.

How much did you get in NH? Waiting on totals here but I'm estimating 16 inches or so. Spent all day plowing my work's lot.

I know. It sucks, got an inch if snow and enough salt on the road for 2 feet. I've washed my car 3 times in 2 weeks.

I was hoping the mountains were going to get slaughtered but it appears he Presidential range only got 4 inches or so. Bummer. Winter hiking is my thing. Makes the pushing the snow around and whatnot worth it.

southern MA here, coastal. they called for a foot initially, then 8", woke up to 5" (story of my life, jp)

i enjoy a snow walk as well. a lot of my loops double in time or half the distance to equivalent workout w the pup. want to snowshoe in future.

sorry to the inland guys, we get a fair amount of snow here, turns our mediocre wheeling nearby into something decent.

This is my kinda thing. This was Ammonoosuc Ravine trail up to lakes of the clouds hut and then onward to Mt. Monroe ... That was a wild day -30f with the wind chill. Steady 50mph wind with gusts oveer 70.

The wildest part was right about where that picture was taken of us ascending there were little streams that were insulated by the snow. You would step into running water and it would instantly freeze as you stepped out. So with an ice axe you would pick out a giant block of ice out of your crampons every other step. It made for a long grueling day.

Oh yeah, they salt the roads as if the worst blizzard in history is about to roll through here. Pisses me off to no end.

So I was on the way to the stupid Colorado emissions test when the engine started missing and running like total crap. Limped it home and put a meter on it and it showed #1 cylinder misfire and multiple misfire codes. I had just replaced the coil on #1 in May, so was concerned that it was something else. Took 5 min to swap coils 1 and 3 and sure enough, it followed the swap to #3. Luckily, I have some spare coils here in my garage. I swapped #3 with a new coil and Viola! Runs perfect again. Strange for a coil that was only 7 months old, but I guess we all get back parts sometime.
Went back for the emissions test on Thursday and it passed with flying colors.

We are installing a new Eonon 10.1" Android head unit in our 07. Sadly I am too new to make my own post, but curious to what the 3 white plugs are for on the back of the factory head unit, my wiring harness only has 2. Also the Antenna has 2 plugs.. :noidea:

Its been years since ive installed a car stereo, so hopefully it comes out nice

Here's some humor for the day...

After completing my interior LED bulb swap yesterday, I decided to use the four leftover LEDs in the kit to do the running board lights. Same type, easy peasey, 10 minute job, right?

No problem removing the first screw-in fixture and trading the old bulb for the LED. Tested it before re-installing with a quick opening of the driver's door and, voila, let there be light.

Well, upon trying to screw the unit back into its hole and rubbing the LED inside the light fixture (calm yourselves), the bulb fell out of the fixture's clip and into the lens assembly. After failing to retrieve the LED with my fingers, a piece of wire, a strip of sticky pipe wrap tape, and a pair of stainless steel forceps from my former science days, what the hell was I to do other than cuss? Sure didn't want to remove the running board for a bulb.

Then it occurred to me... When things suck, suck right back. Took a half inch diameter piece of flexible drip line, wrapped the end in two layers of the sticky pipe wrap, stuffed that into the end of my shop vac tube and duct taped it together to make a flexible mini vacuum hose to reach the lamp hole. Lo and behold, the LED bulb returned from the land of the lost.

After that, I decided it was beer and the Broncos for the rest of the afternoon. Cheers! :beer:

Today, I started replacement of front suspension parts. XREAS shocks have leaked all fluid out, so I am replacing them with Eibach shocks and springs. The rear will be done after re assembly of the front.

Of course the LCA bolts were seized, so I spent some time cutting them out. I used a carbide tipped saws all blade and spent about 20 min per side cutting. Best $14 I have EVER spent at Lowe's!

Installed the slyfox76 V8 AIP bypass kit, wasn't difficult at all. Took maybe an hour but if I was doing it again I could do it in 20. The scary part was splicing into the factory harness.. all good though!

after upgrading the trail rig to dobinson long travel I finished moving my old 5100/OME lift over to the wife's ride.

the salsa is now in the shop to get the hood and spoiler repainted due to failed clear coat. I'm going to leave the roof alone and just put a sherpa/prinsu on there and i'll never see the failed clear coat again.
