What did you do with your 4runner today?

Added a transmission oil cooler. Hayden 678. I measure the temps with my Scanguage, and I think its the torque converter temps. The one that changes more frequently.

It made a pretty big difference in temps. I have to drive up a hill to get to my house and sometimes it goes to 200+. Not sure why because my fluid is still red and not burnt or anything. Maybe because of my bumper/winch and bigger tires. But with the cooler it stays well below 200. Like around 150-160 when going up.

I just hope my temps are not too cool. If that's a thing?

I routed it from my radiator then back to the trans.

The past few years whenever I buy a car or truck I replace all interior lights with LEDs. The 4Runner offered me the opportunity to swap out exterior lights on the lighted running boards. What a great improvement, especially in the dark.

All the interior lights were from the mod I did on my FJ Cruiser I had back in 2014-15. Before selling it I removed them and put the incandescent bulbs back in.

I'm not sure. Depending on how you route it and the length of the hose I would say anywhere from 1/2 to 1 quart if that. I didn't add any extra. Just a bit to make up for what I spilled.
I probably should add more. Luckily I have a dipstick so it's a 30 second job.

On Monday I upgraded to Sealight LED headlight bulbs, both high and low beams. I've only driven in semi darkness since then but they sure seem a lot brighter. I'll be trying it out soon to see for sure but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna like them.

I miss my lighted side steps! Wish I would have never tossed them.

went ahead and pulled out the rest of the interior carpet. Rear passenger and Front passenger side...interior. Now onto the driver side.

Could you provide links or brands to the products and how you are sealing it? I've wanted to do this to the rear area and to the back of the rear seats, did you just glue the matt to the rear seat covers? thanks in advance, I'm very interested in the products/instructions.

Awesome E39. I was looking at those but I really need AWD/4WD. Have the timing chain guides been done yet? I can't think of much else that's a risk with that motor.

Honestly, it looks like the mats from Costco for $15 for a 6-pack (I couldn't find an online link). It's fine in my basement, but I wouldn't replace the carpet in the 4Runner for it.

Thanks! It's a clean example with only 77K miles.

Timing chain guides haven't been done, but it's going in soon to go through a comprehensive service.

1,000 miles without a hiccough

2003 V-8 Limited
235,000 miles

SoCal to Tahoe, up the 5 at 85 mph and home the 395 at 65 mph.
Trip for some R&R and snow play. 17 MPG total. No appreciable difference in mileage on each leg.

Recent work inlcudes: valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, coolant, thermostat, coolant hoses, throttle body cleaned, drive belt, idler pully and tensioner. Idler pully was making more noise than I realized. After the replacement the injectors ticking is the noisiest thing under the hood.

I had the nagging TPMS light that was due to a faulty sensor. I found a bypass hack on YouTube, inquired about the hack on this forum to see if anyone had done it. Many have! Convinced it was safe to do it I spent all of 2 minutes to perform the hack. Then.....I washed the old girl, tried the Mothers Speed Clay 2.0 on her lustrous but contaminated paint (that Mother’s thing worked great btw), then I machined polished her with Finesse It #2, then hand waxed her with Meguires Ultimate Liquid wax then finally sealed it with the amazing Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Spray Coating. She is as slick as soft butter and as shiny as a new penny! And this old man is fricken tired...:sleepy:

I found the PID codes for the transmission fluid temperature thanks to this forum (which made me join). Plan on doing a transmission fluid service and dropping the pan soon considering I'm at 189k and I'm not sure it has ever been done.

I had to do the same thing with mine.....such a simple mod that looks great!

Finally got around to replacing the illumination bulbs in the climate control. While I had it out I went ahead and taped it off and repainted the top of the control unit where the previous owners fingers had worn the paint off. Gonna have to redo that part though. I used some gloss black that I had laying around and it's too shiny. Gonna go back and repaint with matte or flat.
