Little sticker action and installed a new stereo. Finally some apple CarPlay!
How are you liking this head unit? I was eyeing it, can't decide if I like it more than a traditional double DIN.
I'm also torn because I kind of want wireless carplay/AA (I take a lot of short 10 minute trips), but those options are a lot more limited.

So far I'm happy with it and loving the CarPlay aspect of it. Still need to pull it back out and bottom up some of the wiring as well as install the mic and backup camera. Sound needs a little fine tuning but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Does yours have wireless AA/Carplay? I see there are two identical looking models, but the wireless option is $600 vs. $450 for the regular.
If you have wireless, how seamlessly has it worked? My wife drives a new X3 and the wireless Carplay in that is finicky at times

I got the $600 model CAR910W
It has wired and wireless CarPlay connection, so far I've only used the wireless feature of it and it hasn't given me any trouble or finicky. There is a slight 1-2sec delay after pushing next song to when it starts playing said song. But maps has been on point with navigating to places with current location as you drive. Right now I have it back apart to setup the mic for phones calls and install the back up camera. Or at least have it setup on the unit, might wait before tearing apart the backed trying to route the wire to the trunk.

Just saw this post, wanted to mention my install of a similar unit. I have the Jensen CAR1000. I ended up needing an extension for the backup camera leads because the logical spot for the camera was in the rear spoiler at the top of the hatch. Standard leads were 2’ too short.

Bought a 2005 Sport V8 with severe R and OD gears slipping, and figured it was a solenoid, valve body circuit clogged, or low trans fluid.
ATF exchange using cooling line (existing level was low, but old fluid did not smell burnt - was brown in color though)
- brought up to temp, left engine running, removed overflow bolt, drained until little stream, reinstalled overflow bolt
Trans R and OD still slipping
Performed pressure test
Idling - D in spec
Idling - D in spec
Stall - D in spec
Stall - R shoots up to in spec range, but steadily drops in pressure pretty quick (indicative of circuit fluid leak)
Dropped valve body from trans
separated valve body and removed all valves for inspection
cleaned valve body (barely dirty)
checked resistance on all solenoids
installed Sonnax B1 Apply Control Plunger Kit
reassembled valve body and reinstalled
refilled ATF and verified level
Trans R and OD still slipping
I am leaning towards buying a used trans from a salvage yard with at least a 30 day warranty and < 150,000 miles.
Found a lot of 2005-2007 Tundra's with the same powertrain as my 4Runner (V8, 4x4), but I need to find out if the trans is a direct swap (need to get my post count up before I can start a new thread)

Awesome, really appreciate the review. I might wait until late winter/early spring to pull the trigger since we don't have any road trips planned to justify the purchase just yet haha.
Btw, if you get a chance, could you take more photos from different angles of the screen? I noticed this model sticks out a little bit more since it can oscillate, and I'm curious how that looks when sitting in the passenger seat. Cheers!

This one is probably my second choice. I go back and forth between wanting wireless & not. Thanks for the pictures.
Was it a pain in the rear to rig up the wiring for the backup camera? I've never done car wiring before -- I'm not worried about figuring out the connections, but I feel like I'm gonna break some plastic tabs if I start removing trim pieces lol.

Just replaced both front axles and installed JBA ucas. Also OME 884's with 5100's set at stock position.
Question on the 5100/884's. My before measurement from the center of the hub to the fender was 18 1/2 inches. My after measurement was 24 1/2 inches. Does this sound right ? That's a lot of lift. I'm worried about the angle of the axle.
Got the rear apart for the 2 inch Toytech super flex springs and found out the brake lines are too tight to install them. Also, the rear 5100's did not come with bushings, washers, or nuts. I have to wait until Monday to hear back from Wheelers.

I found out my radiator is leaking coolant into the trans fluid... I'm not surprised, since the UOA I did on the trans fluid indicated "cooler pack wear". At least the engine hasn't been overheating, but this might be contributing to the torque convert clutch slipping I've been seeing.
Also got a new Hayden trans cooler that I'll install with the new radiator that I'm about to order...

Il see if I can grab some photos of it tmrw after work for you of different angles. It does stick out but honestly doesn't bother me and bring its more into arms reach to navigating the controls. You can also adjust it even further out if needed. But mines on the lowest setting when you see the pics.
Me and the GF when Kayaking down in Rainbow springs this weekend, was a blast and the Runner didn't skip a beat!

RCI A arm skids and trans skid came in this weekend. Going to install them on my day off!
