Installed last night, happy with it. Until I decide to build a swing out tire carrier haha
That is a sweet setup you made. You could sell those. It pairs nicely with the sliders too. Did you build those as well ?
For a creative mind like yours, you would find it a challenge. But I’d like to have a rear bumper that on each side I could pull out or swing out or slide in, two bars that would then support my hammock, for those lazy days when I back my rig up to a lake

Thanks! The sliders are Marlin Crawler but I made the brackets to make them bolt on. I know I could sell the bumpers but the hard part comes when you try to make money off them. I have so much time in all the custom work I do, hardly anyone would be willing to pay the cost. And if I sold them for what a comparable bumper would cost, my time would be valued at <$10/hr

Love the dog in the pic. About the bumper, which is almost like a slider for the rear, I've envisioned something similar for the front. I like the bullbar look but we all know the type available are great until you run into something, then not so much. So my thought was, what if a bullbar could be fabbed so it bolts directly to the frame in the same place as some aftermarket recovery points? It could have a pair of brace-type pieces bolted onto the radiator crosspiece to make it more stout.
This could be done in two flavors, one with the bullbar tubing only coming out and up from under the bumper and the other a full wraparound similar to your rear bumper with the bullbar welded to it.
I asked a local fabricator about it and he said it could be done, but sadly, my beer budget wouldn't come close to covering my champagne taste. LOL

Haha sure! Anything is possible to make, the sky is the limit. I'm planning to do something similar as a front bumper, will bolt to factory points on the frame and be made of round tubing to keep the theme going.

Today I moved replacing the serpentine belt and pulleys to the top of my to-do list. :wow:
IIRC, interval is 90K miles. This is a Bando belt from Amazon with 88K on it, installed in July 2018. This damage is recent; I always look everything over when changing the oil and so on. I'll be doubling down on that going forward.

This week I added a Smittybilt XRC 9500 winch on a Budbuilt hidden winch mount bracket. The winch is a Christmas gift from my wife but since we'll be spending 2 weeks at Christmas in the NC mountains she let me go ahead and install it early. Haven't tried it out on anything yet but I really like it so far.

oem tacoma belt is cheaper than the 4runner/fj belt. not sure why they charge double, maybe its imported from japan.

Thanks. This may have changed as I did some searching and all I could find at the online Toyota parts sites was a belt that fits both. It's the same price I found for the 4R belt. Notably, searching for the p/n I found when searching for the Tacoma belt on my local dealer's online site showed "This part is no longer available."

Changed the head gaskets
So I had finished this project this last Sunday only took me a week and around 500 total in parts, valve spring tool and resurface job. Definitely have a lot of respect for this motor after doing this just wish it was sleeve-able to get some mo powa beabea

So I was really wanting a wireless remote for the winch so I got one of the cheap ones on Amazon. Unfortunately, using it would have required me to splice the wires inside the control box. I didn't want to do that out of fear of voiding the Smittybilt warranty. So after a little research I found one made by Warn for the Smittybilt that plugs directly in where the wired remote plugs and allows you to use your smartphone to control the winch and also see info like your battery level. Just ordered it today. Once I get it I'll try to report back on how I like it, (or not). Also; it's on sale for 22% off right now. Regularly $101 on Amazon and now it's $78. It sells for $124 on the Warn site. This is it:

Just thought I would add that Warn also has these devices, (or similar ones) for some other brands. So if you don't have a Smittybilt winch you can check and see and maybe they have one for your brand. BTW, I haven't received mine yet so this isn't an endorsement for the quality etc. But since it's made by Warn I'm expecting it to be good.

I went out Sunday to help a buddy get a Xmas tree out by Navajo Lake near Duck Creek UT. Wouldn’t you know it I got me a record of 4 snow recoveries in one trip! 2 Toyotas a Nissan and a Dodge. A total of 5 for the trip since another guy in the group rescued a Ford while we were cutting the tree down. It’s always a good time playing in the snow and watching people get stuck.

Installed a KOYO all aluminum radiator. Replaced my radiator about 30k miles ago because of a cracked plastic end tank, and it recently started leaking again from the neck cracking slightly. I didn't want to risk it cracking again, so bit the bullet on the $500 KOYORAD which is all aluminum vs the ~$100ish oem replacement with an aluminum body and plastic endtanks/neck.
Fit is perfect like oem. 1 difference, you no longer route the transmission cooler lines through the radiator, they go directly from the transmission to the cooler. Super easy, and no more risk of a pink milkshake.

Found a Sport hood local in Az not to far from me. The three people that responded to my WTB add here we're all scammers they refused to take payment for goods through PayPal and Venmo insisted on family and friends don't do it. It's a scam they're trolling this website. I will be sanding this down. I'm going to be repainting my 4runner soon and paint the hood when I paint the vehicle.
