Just going to give a little teaser for now. I haven’t made the magical 15 comments yet and I don’t want to give away all the secrets before I can make a build thread. That being said I did a little more work on my storage / sleeping platform in my 95. Carpet in on! (Apologies for the sideways pic)

Hi all just joined the forum cause I need so input on where to go with my runner. Back story. I have had it a while and it ran like crap so I changed the plugs and that made it run great so I decided to do an oil change and new cap and rotor. Since then I drove it about 1.5 hours to work and when I went to leave it wouldn't start I messed with the coil wire and it fired up so I decided to replace the coil wire at my parents house then when I went to drive home it would just sputter out every time I hit the gas. Once I got home I replaced all the wires and now it will barely start and I'm getting 4 codes off the dash 14 22 41 71. I tried unplugging the tps to see if that changed and nothing I replaced the cap and rotor again hoping it was some China junk that was bad. Next thing I guess is to order a good set of wires online. Also I ordered a egr delete kit. If any one could weigh in on where I should work towards or what to fix or replace I'm at a loss

Dremel'd out a hole for my carling switch panel leftover from my Tacoma. Filled the holes, will finish sanding, and then will paint tomorrow if the humidity lets me.
Finally got my rear brakes re-assembled and new handbrake cable installed so took it camping over the weekend to celebrate...only to find out the brakes are still dragging!
Got to the top of one of the trails to discover burn-off's had just finished.
Found some other classic convertibles along the trip.

Welcome to the forum. I suggest you start a thread on the appropriate model-generation forum.
People who have already fixed problems have shared solutions on this forum. Why not google/search what those codes mean first? Why replace all those parts before you verify that they are bad and that replacing them? The codes may narrow where to look first, and save you money and time.
First work towards making the truck work well in stock form before adding complications from EGR delete.

Electronics upgrades
I installed a new head unit, dash cam, and lots of dash bulbs. I found some pretty interesting history in the dash wiring and fixed most of it. I also “discovered” the amps on the rear speakers. Ugh...my super neat wiring had to be partially redone to accommodate wiring around those amps. Nothing I tried made them work with the new head unit. All working well now.

When I picked up my truck it had a spare from 87 and BFGs from 88... it was a unnerving drive home
Yeah lost a chunk on the drive home luckily it didn't come apart
Still have a spare that's never seen the road to bad it's 22 years old too

Today I installed my Total Chaos idler arm because i got tired of replacing stock idler arms. Bronze bushings & idler arm braces just exposed the next weak link...the small end that bolts to the centerlink.
Straightforward install, just had to drill the centerlink out to a 5/8" straight hole and chase threads on a fourth mounting bolt on the underside of the frame. Nicely made with ball bearings on the ends so hopefully it'll last till my sas.

Couple things since my last post.
Rear shocks installed, those 4600's ride so nice. Took it up to the mountains and it did great! Next day I started it and it was running rough, went to pull it out of the driveway and this happened...
Took the rad with it too
I couldn't pay 600$ just for the rad so I went through napa and had them order all the parts. We'll see how they hold up.
The truck lost all power when the fan blew up, I was assuming it was because it was so off-balance. i'm hoping it's just the Shrouds/Fan/Rad that have to get replaced.
On a happier note I finished the first iteration of my custom cross-bars since my front one was broken anyway. Plan is to do it for the front and rear not using the pre-drilled angle iron but all angle stock and drill my own holes to get it to all line up flush so it doesn't bother my OCD. Rack is solid so far though.

I had the exact same thing happen. Replace the fan with the 1995 4Runner fan without the outer ring. Also--looks like you (also like me) are missing a shroud.
I got my radiator from a local shop like 1-800-Radiator. Plastic top and bottom with aluminum core. Works fine. Got it in one day. Same with the fan. Mine decided to take out the power steering hose too.
I just installed 4600s in the front as well. OMG. Such a difference. I now know why people spend that much on shocks :tongue:

Noted if it happens again I'll try to find a 1995 in a junkyard. I've had good luck with Napa parts and it's right down the street so I went for it. All said and done with the two shrouds, rad, and fan I was at around 300$ so if it works it was worth it if not, I learned something haha.
Looking through the bay I don't see damage to anything else but I guess we'll see when I get it started again.
The XJ has been enjoying being used again, I miss the tractor length shifter on that thing haha. On the drive up to the mountains on Saturday I commented to my buddy that I haven't feared for my life at all during the trip (had the 4Runner) which is odd after daily driving the XJ for two years with no sway bars.

I just put a napa radiator in my 3.0 last Friday, so far it's been running about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than before, so far I'm very pleased with it.
