What did you Plasti Dip on your 5th gen?

I plastidipped the brushed-aluminum-look glove box panel on my TRD Off Road.

It's a great solution for me, because the damn stock finish has issues and was cracking 3 months in, and it sounds like Toyota hasn't come up with a fix, so instead of having to look at it get worse over the years, I got an OEM-look panel there that is more scratch resistant.

My roof rail trim covers. Watched a -lot- of YT vids on how to get a good finish.

Did not like the look and the feel was horrid. Couldn't imagine washing it. Don't know how you guys get such nice finishes but I couldn't do it.

I peeled it off after 5 minutes. It seems like a nice product for certain things, I just couldn't deal with it for that application.

Has anyone dipped their fender flairs and if so how were the results? I think it would help protect them from scratches and look good. Ive done a few things in the past with good results.Zero washing problems.

Did you use the gloss coat? Your valence looks much better then all the plastidiped ones I've seen, can you share coats and products?

I didn’t but if you do an even coat it comes out with some what of a satin look. Just do tons of light coats and you should be fine. Used regular black plastidip!

I did plasti dip on my emblems at first. I did find it hard to get clean after they got dirty. And one of the letters got buggered up just a couple of weeks after doing it. I peeled it off and got the overlays instead of spending all that time redoing the paint.

Yep. I did damage to my flairs in Corral Canyon years ago and dipped them all. They’ve lasted for a couple of years now through desert, snow, rocks, etc. I’ve had to redip the front ones 1x due to brush scratches.

did the front and rear emblems and valance...like they said aboveeee...tons of light coats, but also make sure the can is warm so it gets a good spray...if its cold it doesn't look smooth when it dries.

So far the only thing I've dipped are the custom Trail emblems, but I'm also thinking of using dip on the washer fluid reservoir. With the MetalTech bumper I have, the reservoir is very visible. A dark plastic-dip would make it not stand out like a sore thumb, plus I figure the dip would give it some protection from UV damage.

I had half a can left over from my old Jeep, so first mod I did was to remove the hatch trim panels to get the garnish off, and paint that rear lettering. Makes no sense to me that Toyota puts blackout emblems/valence/etc over the entire TRD Pro but leaves the rear lettering in chrome....

Also dipped the air horn trumpet I installed behind the grill because that's also chrome and looks like ass.

i've plastidipped pretty much everything that wasn't mag grey or black when I went through the black everything out phase.

Fastforward 3 years later, and nothing is plastidipped.....and thats the beauty of plastidip...... you can reverse it back when you want to, and everything that was plastidipped looks brand new.


So I definitely don't regret using plastidip.
