What do you guys have for exhaust?

I wanted to put dual exhaust in my 95, but headers are $700, along with everything else that needs to be cut out and added just not worth it for me right now. I was wondering if anyone has a catback exhaust? Does it actually make the vehicle run/sound/perform better? I have a stock exhaust and i think I have a few small holes in the muffler or something because it sounds terrible. At certain times it sounds like somebody tossed a tin can full of rice in my truck and it's just bumping around in there. It's just super depressing looking/sounding and if I could get any sort of gain whatsoever that would be nice.

I still have the cat on my 85 4runner. 2 feet after that, i have a Flowmaster Super 10 (3 inch inlet and outlet) dumped with a 3 inch downturn under the cab. Sounds great. Almost has a diesel sound. Definitely turns heads! Lol. I wanna get a header for it. Preferably a Doug Thorley.

You can find the Super 10 online. Ebay, amazon, etc. ThYou can find the Super 10 online. Ebay, amazon, etc. They run around 60-80$ you can find the downturn at auto zone or O'Reillys. Warning though. Its really loud. Kinda hard to have a conversion without raising your voice. But what i was going for!

We're running a stock factory set-up on our 1990(V6, auto). When the muffler needed replacing, factory was really the only game in town, basically(plus, nice warranty). Borla stop making systems for these trucks. NWOR makes brilliant headers for these, but we're at the point of getting rid of the truck, unfortunately. That was to be one of the next projects on it.

you can buy a Thrush Welded Muffler (knockoff of the flowmaster 40) & it looks, sounds & is built nearly identical for under $40.....

this sound clip is on a V8, but should give you a rough idea...

I took it to a muffler shop and had a flow master put on it. I'm happy with the music that comes out!

Here's mine! It's on a 3.4 but it should sound fairly similar. It has the stock pipes (2.25") and stock clogged cat.

That sounds nice. They aren't too expensive either...leaning towards one of those.

Chuckles89 how do you like the thrush? Ever owned a flowmaster to compare it to?

I test drove a similar 4Runner (1999 3.4 5Speed) and it supposedly had a Flowmaster 40. It was a lot deeper at idle and droned waaaaaay more at all rpms. My thrush only drones at 1900 RPM.

heres mine. I have 2.5" pipes no cat and a magnaflow. Gives it a nice deeper sound and its not super loud.

Without doing headers, anything done to the exhaust will only change the sound, not performance.

If youre crafty, make your own by capping off the back of drivers side manifold, and cut the crossover flange off and use it to start the pass side down tube.
