What do you think about the saddle on this jack stand?

The saddle doesn't look like it comes down to a V from wide like I expected it to. What do you think?

I could take the anvils to work tomorrow and try to grind them a bit with a bench grinder so they're a bit more opened up.

My guess is that it's a manufacturing defect where the sand cast wasn't formed properly. I think they should look like the picture below. I'd probably just grind it out and remove the excess metal that shouldn't be there. Unless it's easier to return them for a new set.

It might mess with the structural integrity, but a little off the top doesn't look like it would be too big of a deal.

I'll be using these jack stands on my 4Runner. I got them for the structural integrity and security of the huge pin. The pic in the post below yours actually shows the type of jack stands I bought.

Yeah, that's what I expected them to look like. Especially since it looks like those are the very type of jack stands that I bought.

It might take too long to return them and have them replaced. It'll be the only set of jack stands that I'll have to use for my 4Runner when I replace the exhaust later in the month.

Ah! After seeing the others in comparison, agree it is a casting mistake and a grind might be just the thing.

Thanks guys. I did get my jack today and tried these jack stands, and they work okay as-is. I think I'm going to grind out at least the smaller V section in the one in the pic to give me a little more of a V in there, though. I could see it being more useful and extra secure with more of a well defined V. I think I'm going to leave the flatter tops on the outer spots as is, though. They look like they'll sit well on the spots of the frame for elevating from the front end. A bit flatter for the bigger flat spots on the frame.
