What good is the Sliding Rear Cargo Deck?

ARB drawer and fridge slider mounted on top of the sliding tray. It helps extend everything out.

Depends on what you use it for.

- It makes it easier to load heavier items into the back (like large coolers)
- It makes for easier loading/unloading of bikes (added a Saris fork mount track to the tray)
- It makes for a great tailgate
- It makes for a usable food prep and cooking area

I've had it on two 4Runners now, and frankly, I wouldn't consider not having it.

Plus, when the rear (second row) seats are folded down, the entire cargo area is flush and level.

Without the sliding cargo tray, there is a drop off behind the back seat into the cargo area.

Also, you do gain a neat little somewhat hidden rectangular storage compartment for various items... gloves, straps, poncho, etc...

Saves my back when I load up gear and tools. Only two things I wanted on my 4Runner when I bought it is the KDSS and the sliding rear deck :thumb:

The sliding cargo tray was a requirement for me. My dealer had to find a trail with it and have it sent to the dealership. I spend a lot of time when camping at the back of the truck and it is great. Great platform to tie everything down.

Rear cargo deck

I am purchasing a 2019 TRD premimum. the paperwork says it comes with sliding rear cargo deck, but they are now saying it doesn't come with it. Does anybody have one they want to get rid of?

Figure out how much it costs from the factory and make them put it on. I don't think the cost is all that much, maybe $300 or $400. Freeman Toyota?

I have one and love it. When I pull out the cargo deck for the person loading the groceries at the local grocery store they all ways say "cool". Works great to sit on since the rear speakers are above you for tailgating or other things. Plus as others have said, it is flat so you can sleep in the back. You can then get all windows in the Auto Heat Shield and have complete privacy when car camping.

WTB - Rear Sliding Deck

Hi... I know that this is an older thread, but we're taking delivery of a '19 TRD Pro next month for my wife. We live in Canada, so the sliding deck is not an option. I know that it's a love-hate thing for many, but my wife actually thinks she would like it. She isn't especially tall, and being as salty and grimy as our winters are here, she often gets her work uniform dirty having to reach far back into our '14.

Long story short... is anyone looking to sell a sliding deck that's in good condition? Thanks so much.

works pretty well for a cooking surface, but other than that not a whole lot. I just havent taken it out cause I like the flat surface in the back for sleeping

Height from floor under tray to the bottom of the tray

Does anyone know the exact height from the area under the cargo tray? I was contemplating installing some aftermarket amplifiers back there. If you know the full dimensions that would be great as well! Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Charles

P.S. I don't currently have a cargo tray but I was purchasing one from a forum member on here. He's already uninstalled it and can only guess as to the dimensions.

Resurrecting this thread to show a mod I came up with. I was always frustrated with the cargo tray because everytime I went to pull it out with stuff on it, things would fall down into the gap and into the rails which I would have to clear out before shutting the tray again. I love using the tray as an impromptu table or seat, but still wanted a solid "permanent" floor. so, I built a floating floor the stands over top of the tray and is fastened down so it won't bounce on the trail. Super handy so far and mildly inexpensive. Short photo album in the link:
