Going to Vegas for the first time with a girlfriend. Anyone have any advice?
Mostly looking for advice on the best things to do as well as some safety tips since the two of us girls are traveling alone.
We will be staying somewhere on that strip, just not sure where yet.
Planning to go in a couple of months for approximately 4 days (flying).

Oh boy T, are you in for a treat. Vegas is frikkin' awesome! It's adult Disney world. No place on the planet like it. Love Vegas!
I've only been twice, but some of my family goes every year. Once was a boys trip. Once was a couples trip with the wife (then GF). Let me tell you, those are two
totally different trips. The first one was a lot more gambling and the second one, I was actually able to take in a show. There is so much to do there, I think you could be there a lifetime and not see everything.
I'll give you a run down on what I've done. I stayed at NYNY hotel both times... It's okay. Nothing special. Hotels I like and will prolly stay at in the future are The Palms and Mandalay Bay. Hotels I think are cool to see are MGM, Mirage, Venitian, Rio, and Ceasars. I've heard the center city area with Aria,Mandarin and Vidara are really nice, but I haven't been since they were completed. Hotels I don't think are that great are Luxor, Excaliber, Paris, Hooters, Hard Rock, and Treasure Island
I'd recommend checking out the top of the Stratosphere. Great view and rides if you're daring. I would recommend taking in a Cirque show. Plenty to choose from, all great. Strip clubs are open 24/7 there, but the later it gets, the uglier the girls get. If you're so inclined, my female friends say that the Chip n Dales show at the Rio is... worth seeing. The Forum shops @ Ceasars has some good shopping. The fountain show at the Bellagio of course.
I would recommend playing poker in a poker room if you choose to gamble. It's how I prefer to play since you're not playing the house there. If you'd like to go broke quickly, I would recommend black jack, but before you sit down at a black jack table, be sure you know how to play the game properly. If you're unsure, you can get a cheat sheet that will tell you how to play each hand. Hitting on the wrong hand is a sure way to start a fight at your table. People can be d!ks there. I like the poker rooms at the Rio, but you're assured to have at least one pro sitting at your table when you're there. That's where they play the World Series at. I didn't like the dealers at Venetian/Palazo. They were very rude and snooty. Enjoy your beginners luck and win big!
For nightlife, club Pure at Ceasars is way overrated. As are Rain and Playboy at the Palms. I prefer a bar type atmosphere over a club and Ghost Bar @ The Palms and Rum Jungle @ Mandalay Bay are good. Hanging out at hotel pools with your GF, looking good in bikinis is a good way to get club promoters to come up to you and put you on VIP lists.
As far as safety goes, everybody already has plenty to say regarding this, but don't let it deter you. I got only one tip/golden rule for this... Don't be stupid. I realize it's different for a woman. Don't take roofies, don't pull your own tooth out, don't get a face tattoo, and don't steal Iron Mike's tiger... That should cover it.
4 days for your first time in Vegas is a LONG time. I say by your 3rd night, you're screaming for mercy. Vegas is insane in that, for one, you never really sleep. You just kind of rest your eyes for a few minutes. Two, you're never really "trashed" drunk either. Don't know how true it is that they pump pure oxygen through the casinos to keep gamblers awake and cognizant, but I buy it. You sort of just keep drinking and maintain that nice euphoric buzz, but never full on get drunk. It's really cool.
Man, I really could talk all day about Vegas, but that should get you started.
