Born and raised... We were also just dethroned from our #1 spot of fastest growing county in the country. Now we're #2, haha...

I tend to disagree somewhat with what a lot of people apparently consider posers. Its going to be hard to type what I think, but Ima give it a whirl.
My brother has a F350 with a 4" lift and 35" BFG all-terrains. Other than that, he painted it a two-tone Kandy Tangerine/Charcoal put some small accents like window visors and bug deflector, tinted the windows and thats basically it. It has seen mud one time that I know of, but he plays in the snow alot. The only places to mud around here are narrow trails and he doesnt want to scratch the paint that he put a lot of time and effort into. IMO he is not a poser, he appreciates the 4WD and uses it in snow and mud if its an open field, but its still a daily driver. The lift he put on doesn't negatively affect the truck and anyway and it looks ten times better than stock.
by the way, I know they are baja claws int he pic but hes got the bfg's on now.
Even though its not my style, I have complete appreciation for a well built show truck/car ...as long as this person is not always talking shit about what they cant do or dont have.
My civic was built to look good and when I was finally ready to move onto performance I had to sell it, so it never got the swap or turbo it deserved. But I never once said it was fast, actually told everyone it was slow. Appreciate your vehicle for what it is and not what its not and you get my credit even if its not my style.
Now on the other had I know a kid who drives a mark III supra that says turbo on the back. Ask him to show you his set up and he will come up with a million diff. reasons to not pop the hood..... hes a poser.

Yep you got it right, the Ford guy is NOT a poser, he has what he has, and doesnt try to sell it as anything more than it really is just to impress someone. He has a bitchin lookin truck, I LOVE the colors, thinking of a similar orange, or a metallic kandy lime green, or a metallic kandy purple, for a theme on my Ram in the future.
The little V-Dub boy racer that tried to run me in my Ram yesterday, he was a poser. Lowering kit, fart can, fancy paint and body kit, some performance contingency stickers on the rear window. By all standards, a car that weights half as much as my truck, with all the mods he claimed he had, should have whooped my ass, or at least give me a good run. Nah LOL. From about 30 to 90 I pulled 5 truck lenghts on him, and my truck is "mostly" stock, not much more than a performance pcm, 4.10 gears, shift kid, and true duals with headers. Totally stock engine. No weight reduction. Big heavy SS/T-Indy Ram rims with Toyo's. I showed a poser what he really was. I think I "Unpimped ze auto" a bit for him LOL

Anybody who tries to pretend their vehicle is something it's not is a poseur.
That includes guys who spends immense amounts of money to give the impression they go off road but don't and lie about it to the kid in the 118hp Honda that has a wing and stickers but never sees the track or eclipses 17 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
I'm also a little dissappointed by RamThis getting sucked in by a poseur and racing him. :bash:

Ok so in your opinion what about these two scenarios:
A. Lifted truck with oversized tires. Maybe sees 2 off-roading adventures a year but nothing major. Owner never talks shit about his truck or brags on how awesome it does off-road, just likes the looks a lot better with a mild lift. Is this guy a poser in your opinion?
B. Lowered civic on 17" wheels, intake, catback exhaust, short shifter. Stock 127hp motor, no turbo or swap or build. Owner is first person to joke about how slow the car is, its never seen a track. Owner maybe has plans to some day make it a faster car but for now just enjoys modding this vehicle. Is this guy a poser because he mods a car for aesthetics rather than performance?
In my opinion neither of these two are posers as they seem to accept their vehicles for what they are. Now if the guy in the truck is always bragging about how the truck is an off-road beast and will best any truck out there then I totally agree. And if the civic guy is out trying to race camaros and firebirds and then saying he lost because he "missed a gear." Then I also agree that this guy be labeled a poser.
That being said, I still have respect for anything that is built with your own money (not your parents money.) It may not be my taste and I may make fun of it all the time, but in the end were all into cars and modding and thats cool.

My OTHER Ram, that's a whole different story. 500 HP KRC Race engine package, 12.3:1 CR, ported R/T heads, M-1 Single plane intake, 58MM CNC throttle body, MSD ignition, FMS injectors, custom PCM program, 2700 RPM stall convertor, Mopar Tri-Y headers, Comp Cams complete valvetrain, 4.10's, Detroit Locker, etc etc etc.
And guess what, neither of my trucks have one single contingency sticker. Im the opposite of a poser, I dont want to try to "impress" by show of stickers or bling, I impress by whooping their ass LOL.
On the same note, I have had my ass handed to me by fast cars that were done the same way. They look mostly stock, but man, in a whole other league than mine LOL.
A poser has nothing to to with the vehicle they drive ( so to speak ) , it has to do with their own short comings in there life , spirit, soul , self confidence , and wanting to impress, ect.....
They pretend to be a person they want people to see , weather it be by having a tricked out car , wearing 250.00 basketball shoes , being a bad ass biker , basically anything that make them feel superior to others.
As far a vehicles go , I've learned to appreciate anyone's vehicle ( no matter how i dislike it ) if they talk to me respectful , worked hard to buy their OWN car , trick it out to what makes them happy inside. It gives a feeling of satisfaction to them . We all do the same thing here with our 4R's. There are people out there that will see a lifted 4R with big tires an say that looks stupid , and what a waste of a good truck. To where most of us would see it on the road and probably do a U turn and follow him to see what mods he has done , how it works , what lift ect..............

One more thing , the harley guys just crack me up. Being a long time HD rider , I was riding Harley's when people used to pull up next to me at the stop sign and say , what the hell you riding that for , and laugh. As time went on and the yuppie trend caught up to the yuppie bike , I sold all my HD stuff and pursued other interests.
I now ( at 45 ) am looking to buy a Honda XR650L dual sport bike , so I can ride like a nut on and off the road.

HDs became trendy and when the "rich" crowd got a hold of 'em it drove the prices to a rediculous amount and in the future they will contunue to depreciate at a quite fast rate.
The average age of a HD rider is nearing 50 and with no younger customers HD may go out of business as their customers either die or get too old to ride.
I love the people that trailer their HDs to just outside Sturgis then get all in their leathers and such and drive into town. That is a poseur.

If it was not for their global market they would already be done. Living in Milw. , the HD home town , the market is flooded with them. There are tons of used ones for sale and they are not moving , people still think they should get more than what they paid for them. Those DAYS are long gone for HD.
