HI Toyota Fans!
I'm glad I found you all! It's great to find a community of people with similar interests and those who are not trying to rip you off by fixing something that's not broken. (Yes, this has happened several times, err!) I have a 2wheel 97 4runner, I'm the second owner and I have 190,000 miles on my car. Can you believe it? Probably, 'cause Toyota's rock, right?!
Here's my big question, just this last weekend I noticed a high pitch sqrueeching sound. It seems to happen when I'm idling or when I'm not stepping on the gas or break, just cruising. I don't hear it all the time, I don't believe it matters if the air is on or not, or if my car is warmed up or not. I'll make sure to pay attention to those details tomorrow. A few people mention belts and pulleys in the forums, maybe this is the problem. The belts were replaced maybe 5 years ago. I'd like to know with this vague description if anyone else has experienced this sound before?
I've recently replaced the breaks, the battery, and I get routine oil checks. I'm worried something major is wrong. Do Toyota's fall apart at 200,000 miles? I'm going into a few shops tomorrow to get a diagnose, I'll let ya know what they say.
For now, any advice?
Best Regards, Bonnie
