What is that Thump?

I have an 03' v8. When I come to a stop, I occasionally get this thump that sounds like the transmission has a delayed shift down into first. Sometimes it happens when I let my foot off the brake and it starts to roll forward, sometimes I just feel it while I am waiting on the light to turn green, not moving. Any thoughts or experiences with this?

It sounds like you may need to lube the slip joint on your rear driveshaft.

If it is dry it can cause the type of noise you are hearing.

Do a search as there has been a lot of discussion about this on the board.
