What is the expected Fuel pump life?

My 4runner has 250K miles It runs great, everything works. I have done maintenance such as head gaskets, clutch, timing belt, water pump, radiator, OEM LBJ (thanks to this forum). I am planning several trips this summer to death valley, Mammoth Mountain area and Yosemite. Is there anyway to tell if the fuel pump was already changed? Is it best to replace it anyways?

Pressure and volume

My 4runner is also at 250k and i don't think it's ever been replaced i just finished installing a new (Reman) engine and i need to find out if the pump will last another year or so,my recommendation would be is get a fuel pressure test and fuel volume measured if it really concerns you prior to your trip.fuel pressure will determine how much pressure you are running at idle and under load (also check it under engine load),volume test will tell you how much fuel is being pumped at a given time (60 sec.)im not sure if Toyota have any specs. for this you might have to do this more than twice to see a comparison.to do a volume test you will have to disconnect fuel line from injector rail and get a container and crank the engine maybe 30 sec. at a time and get a baseline measurement do all your testing when the engine is at operating temp.
