What is this and why would it not be hooked up?

They were over 100 dollars at my local place so thats why i just disabled mine. Not worth it to replace something that is not needed.

But I do need it. Gets cold as hell here near lake Tahoe. We are over 4500 feet above sea level.

i would say try to find one in a junkyard. Actually thinking about it your problem was not having the plug, did you find it?

Why do you need it? The egr Exhaust Gas Regulator is only for emissions. Doesnt matter how cold it is.

Mine doesnt have it either...92 3.0 5spd... never did.. im 2nd owner but it runs fine,,,, takes forever to warm up but has no problems when cold.. starts fine, runs fine. could be the o2 sensor .. sounds accurate for description

Read the first few posts to answer your question. And it does matter how cold it is. It runs rough untill it warms up, replacing this part should cure this . Now when the cold Sierra winter is here its only going to get worse. I realize it doesn't get very cold in Vancouver, I lived in White Salmon Wa (hood river) for 37 years. But winters are a lot more harsh here and anything that will help with the sluggish cold engine I want to fix.

No all are new. This sensor is all that's left. If it doesn't fix the cold engine sluggishness not sure what's left.

Well if you dont want to listen. Shell out the $130 dollars for the sensor and see if it changes anything.

I found it at orielly for 65 it wont help with the engine not reving high when its cold but it will help with emmisons that was what mine did anyways

Installed the new temp sensor this morning and it runs like a champ now. It was 120 but well worth getting it to run right when the engine is cold:fro:

My problem was erratic rpms while the engine was cold, about 200-300 rpm swing. Now it's down to around 50-75 which is much better. Plus it's not as much of a dog as it was while cold. Could be the what ever they had plugged in to the wire wasn't fooling the computer......who knows, but it runs much better now.
