What is this sensor?

Hey Guys,

Trying to determine what this sensor is on the passenger side of a 5 speed manual transmission that I broke when re-installing the transmission. I can't seem to find a parts diagram anywhere on the net, and the nearest dealer is 2 hours.

So, as stated, it's on the passenger side, about middle (front to back and top to bottom) of the transmission, I believe it was 2 wires, I'll climb back under and check, 5 speed manual, V6.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

From your description, it sounds like it's the switch for the reverse lights. A quick way to confirm that, is to shift into reverse, and see if your reverse lights are on.

I agree. Should be Part No.84210-52050.

Hey Guys, the back-up lights work, but wires are still attached, so it probably is the same sensor. Please see the attached picture.

All I can say is it looks like you really suck at breaking stuff. Try harder!

Ha, I'm a pro at breaking my stuff, this is the girls ride and I'm only allowed to work her toys, she knows I break all my toys. The inner plastic broke off, when I was re-installing the transmission after doing the clutch, so the connection is no longer dirt or water proof and if it is only a $50 part, might as well fix her stuff right.

So unplug it, and see if the reverse lights work just to be sure. But it does look like the back-up switch. I'd be happy spending $20 for an Echlin, they make pretty good stuff.
