I took a look around that area of my '07 Sport but didn't see anything similar. Don't have time today to disassemble anything but I looked from above with the hood open, from below (under the car), and at whatever angles I could get some light from inside and outside the wheel well. Must be in the void where the wiper fluid tank is located.
Thanks for checking things over. Yes, I’m almost certain it fell from the void where the washer fluid tank is. That’s where I was working when it fell (laying on my back facing up, with the inner splash guard pushed out of the way). If I remember correctly it fell right past my face, but my view was blocked so I could see exactly where it came from.
Appreciate you looking, and welcome any other ideas.

They are called spare parts... I find a couple every time I work on something.
This brings me to a story about auto shop in high school... Each team was responsible for tearing down a complete engine and rebuilding it. Many spare parts were found after reassembly, and this ultimately lead me to believe that almost all cars and trucks are manufactured with “spare parts” designed to surprise and confuse people who work on them.
The spare parts were quickly discarded and it was time to test the engine. The engine fired and ran, this was proof positive that the additional parts were in fact not required and our team was able to improve on the design and reduce weight. A passing grade was issued.
This experience motivated me to apply as an automotive technician at your local Toyota dealership. My goal was to improve on all customer cars and find those spare parts.

You and me both! I have a bolt in my cup holder I can't figure out where it came from or when I took it out. It's been in the cup holder for over a year because I know if I get rid of it I'll find where it went the week after.

that maybe it for the 03-05 models, the 06-09 its different.
look around, might want to take the bumper off to verify.
