What is this ticking emissions thing?

Heard this thing ticking and was wondering if that's normal. Looks familiar, I'm sure it was on my fj60 just can't remember the name or what it does.

Its a vacuum switching valve not cheap from Toyota either

Looks like a canister purge solenoid. They often click at idle repeatedly and are quite noticeable. That is normal for it. Nothing serious to worry about

Thanks smog-guy707. I figured it was probably normal seeing it was in sync with engine.

Its one of the EVAP vent or purge solenoids.

If you need a new one It's hard to source the right part from the oreilleys or autozone. What they say is the right part is not the right part. Same for Amazon. This is one of those "just stick with OEM Toyota" situations.

Check around your evap can for any cracks while your looking.

AZBub after doing work on my fj60 I've learned to stick with OEM especially where it counts.
