What is this tube?

2001 4Runner 4WD NOT engaging - need more suggestions - YotaTech Forums

In the first picture, the rubber tube coming off the front differential actuator, I broke that off while installing my new steering rack and pinion and dont know what that tube goes to, or even what will not work now that its not broke. Thanks for the help in advance!

It looks like a vacuum line that activates the 4wd. Should run up to a manifold looking device with a couple electrical plugs and another hose

I hit the awd button in the side of the transfer case shifter and I heard the clunk which made
Me believe it was in 4wd, as well as the light stopped blinking after the clunk. I really don't want to replace that damn thing.... Especially. If I have to remove the power steering rack and pinion again!

you shouldn't have to remove the rack, but if its going in and out of 4wd i can't be the vacuum line...

Thats just the vent for the actuator, Your good but try and find a way to seal it. Ive seem people epoxy it back on with good results

2001 and 2002 actuators are all electrical. I managed to break mine off a while back, I really should find a fix before I drive through a big puddle and it breaks.

That's for the help! I think I'm going to take a toothpick with grease on it so that way the inside stays clear when I try and JB welded back on will see if it works
