My sister ran over some snow and bent some plate under the car. It was making a draging noisr people told her while she was driving home. She must have hit the same snow block which bent it back up cause the sound stopped. She went to Firestone and they said it was a plate Toyota puts there for driving off road protection and they removef it. Nothing was damaged but the plate and they said it's has to be ordered from Toyota but they didn't list what it was called but they did give her the plate. She said it's around between the front wheels. I'm injured and stuck in bed so can't take a look. 96 SR5 :crybaby:

It's not the one in the middle under the grill I think, she said by the right wheel. Like I said been stuck in bed since Oct with a leg problem. When the snow stops I'll gey her to bring in thr plate. Is ir important since they just took it off and sent her on her way, cost for the part? Cost $29 to remove it.

Yep, that's the second of the front skid plates. If she's not going off road then you could probably just leave it off.

She hit ice when driving into the drive way, a hole next door was half blocking our drive way. If ice did this I would feel safer with it replaced. :frusty: now she says it was the passenger side

It goes right behind the front skid, covering the steering rack and part of the transmission. It goes in the middle of the vehicle. I'll ship mine if you pay for shipping.

that is easy to remove, takes all of 4 minutes to unscrew 4 bolts... unless it was just so mangled it got stuck somehow...???

Read a post on here about replacement skid plates made of heavy gauge steel but my question will service shops deal with them and what would Toyota say about them if you ever need service from them like recall. Don't they also add lot of weight to the vehicle more than oem part. :driving:
