What is your "Favorite" Off Road bumper?

Yes, Armorolgy is very expensive. But like anything, you get what you pay for.
If you have a friend that can weld like Jed and design as well... then go with your friend and it might be quite a bit cheaper. Like sn0wrunner said, the quality is exceptional and I really don't think anyone trying to build a bumper for the first, second, or third time could build something close to an armorolgy bumper! Maybe the fifth one and you may have something close to it?! Probably not...

Here in Colorado I see 3rd Gens going for $8-13K. Yes, there was actually a used car lot that had a sign hanging from an 02' for $12,999. It made me laugh. Used cars are super inflated now, but my god! Sometimes you can find one with 220k+ for $6K or less.

Anywho, I put my down payment in long ago(mid-April), and he recently called me up to drop it off. This is what I got back after selling my left kidney( my sorosed one). I'm save to sell my good one for my SAS in about 10yrs.
Better drink beer while I still can!

If you are going to be doing some serious wheeling, then go with Armorology, if you are not, into wheeling, then any bumper will do.
Ive seen TJM, ARB, shrockworks bend, fold and crunch fenders...

to the guy that said you can pick up a 4runner for $1500, I ask where ? and how much cash will you have to put into it to make run ??

Armorology is very expensive, and is built to the rig, it is not an "off the shelf" bumper, fit and finish are an A+, the old saying, you get what you pay for is so VERY true here.
When I had mine, I was never afraid of bumping it on a rock, or sliding off a rock landing on it.
I now have a Demello, it looks nice, and is strong, but then again I dont do the hard core wheeling I use too.
In the end, its your money, your rig, do what makes YOU happy :girl:

I didn't mention it in my first post but thats what I'm basing my design on. It wont be identical but you'll be able to tell it's a knock off lol

not from "off roading" but from coming down, tire sliding off a rock and the weight of the rig landing on a rock, for what its worth, I honestly do not care if you belive me or not, dont matter one bit, I know works for my wheeling and what doesnt. :

In Elton's defense he said you can pick up a 4runner for $1500 more than the $2000 asking price. It was said they were charging $2000 for one installed with a winch but I don't know how much they cost.

What makes them stronger? Looks like a similiar design as most I've seen with the same mounting locations.

You are full of it buddy. I have done that and worse countless times on mine. Its fine if you love Armorologly bumpers but don't spread your verbal diarrhea about other bumpers.

For tube i definitely have to go with Badlands. For a plate bumper i like the shrockworks the best.

I have friends with 4runners that have all the above and more, they have all done their job for whatever the owners have asked them to do. Ive never seen one fail at protecting anyone coming off a rock, into a tree etc yet.

I totally agree. We're lucky that there are so many quality bumpers out there for our 10-15 year old vehicles. We don't have to make decisions based on quality, but more style, personal fit and price.

Personally, I like the ODL bumper but it is a bit pricey. CBI makes a DIY plate bumper kit for 1st gen 4runner and tacos on at ttora.com that is cheaper than other competitor plate bumpers. When I gather enough pennies, hopefully they will have a kit for 3rd gens.
