Michelins are the superior tire choice. They just make the best quality tire for a smooth ride.
I run 265/75/R16 Yokohama Geolander ATs. They are a slightly "road biased" AT tire. Work great as I am mostly on paved roads, and weekend trips onto dirt roads. No heavy duty offroading.

I have a 2002 4Runner SR5 4WD V-6 that I have Firestone Destination A/T tires on it and I have a 2006 4Runner Sport Edition V-8 4WD that has TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T tires on it.The TOYO's last longer as far as mileage goes.Both ride good.:reddance:

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. 265/70R/16. 2nd set in 5 years (~12kmiles/year). Some road noise but handles NorthEast winters like its nothing.
As far as fuel economy issue, I have a lead foot so I can't guarantee their "negative" in that case but I didn't buy the 4Runner for its fuel efficiency.

I’m running the Goodyear wrangler ultra terrain. (Discount tire exclusive). I’ve been super happy with them so far. Awesome in snow, not loud on the highway, decent in mud. I switched to these after years of BFG ko2 use and I am very happy with the decision.

As a few others above, I now have the Yokohama Geolander A/T G015.
They are more street baised than I expected (in P metric) but they seem to ride great. Very quiet and balanced out very well with almost no weight. For the first time in 6 years my 4runner drives vibration free. The previous 2 sets of Nokians were causing my vibes or I finally got lucky with a good tire tech on the balance machine.

I recently got a 98 with 285/70r17 Nitto trail grapplers on it. I mainly drive on paved roads occasionally some trails and the dunes. I’m going to get a new set of all terrains and sell these. Was considering 265/70r17 either Nitto Terra grapplers, pro comp sport, or Nitto ridge grapplers. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Best to worst list for tires I've run on my yotas
Mud terrain:
1. Cooper STT Pro
2. Toyo M/T (good, just heavy)
3. Mastercraft MXT
4. Dean Radial SXT (discontinued)
5. Goodyear MTR/K (admittedly fairly worn down)
All terrain:
1. Cooper AT/3 (pre AT3/W update)
2. Toyo ATII Xtreme
3. Wild Country XTX Sport
4. BFG AT KO (not KO2)
5. Goodyear Duratrac

In my short time with the new Pro, I have really grown to like the "stock" Nitto Terra Grapplers. They're not too noisy on the road, quite grippy off of it, and have a nice mean look to them.
Time will tell how they wear, but I dont quite get why so many guys just swap them out right away. :crazy:

They are far more than OK! I've had TK0s and wranglers, these surpass both those in offroad situations like mud, water, sand, and both those other tires got flats yet the michelins never did under the exact same conditions and dirt roads. I think they're very over looked and thus under rated by folks on here. Best on and off road tire for the money, period. Luck and enjoy your Runners! :cowboy:
