I'm ABC: American Born Chinese (born and raised in Florida). Mom is from Hong Kong, dad is from China. No one really famous in my family, although my grandfather (mother's side) taught Wing Chun and studied under Yip Man (Ip Man). Also have a cousin who designed (or helped design) the Tsing Ma Bridge - the longest suspension bridge in the world (with both rail and vehicle traffic). Dad was featured in a local newspaper article detailing his escape from communist China.

I was born in Sweden, to an American Dad and a Swedish Mom. As for lineage, I've been told on my Dad's side its mostly English/German and on my Mom's its all Scandinavian, with her and her brother being the first of her family being born in Sweden and everyone before born in Denmark.

I'm Japanese Hawaiian (like half the people in Hawaii). My great grandfather however was amongst the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S. in the 1800's, so that makes my kids 7th generation Japanese "American". Kind of odd to hear "Asians" going back that far in America...I guess.

The only famous person I know about is my grandmothers cousin. He played pro baseball in Puerto Rico in the 1940’s and is in the Latin American Baseball Hall of Fame.

Roots are in Germany. My family were some of the early settlers of north central Texas near Muenster (NW of Dallas) and other small towns nearby. My father went to grade school near Muenster and there are a lot of our people still living in that same area. We have a namesake cemetery in the area as well.

In 1860 one of my ancestors was lynched in Fort Worth for being a critic of slavery and other things.

Another one of us was the co-founder of a popular alcoholic drink from the 1980's. If you are the right age you may remember California Coolers.

American of Chinese ancestry. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Dad immigrated from Hong Kong and mom came from a small village near Canton. Family in the USA date back to 1889 when my few Great Uncles came over to Los Angeles and San Francisco as hired laborers. My Great Grandfather was one the many whose job was to direct laborers from neighboring Canton villages into Hong Kong where their ships deport to North America. During that time the Qing Empire wouldn't allow it so they had to go through British Hong Kong. That was what I was told.

After their laborous jobs they worked as small time merchants and ran restaurants out of Seattle's old Chinatown. If anybody is from Seattle one of my uncles owned the old China Gate restaurant(now defunted). It was built in 1924 and opened as China Garden, a Cantonese opera house.

If we are speaking "famous", former US Ambassador Gary Locke is related by marriage only.

I would like to share this cool photo of one of my Great Uncles(right of the lion head) here in Seattle's Chinatown on King Street. Hotel Milwaukee still stands today!
