Yes, Croatia Sorry you could not go but I see why the State Dep. did not want you to go. i was at home during the war and it most certainly was not the best place for a non-Croatian to be. So maybe it was for the best back then.

I'm predominatly Norweigan and Danish from dads side (grandma was 100% norweigan, grandpa 100% danish), and on moms side we got german, irish, swedish and some finnish.

in other words i'm an all american mutt, and i dont tan, even in 120+ plus degree weather.

Hey that's cool.... what part of Croatia are you from? I'm 50% Croatian (my Dad was born there, same with all of his family as far back as one can trace). He's from Lica, near Gospic. Born in Rijeka. I've had people ask if I'm Italian... only one or two people have ever asked if I'm from Croatia.

I'm also 25% German (mom's side), 12.5% Polish, and 12.5% Ukrainian. Only famous person in my family is some person on my Mom's side of the family had some Royal status in Europe... don't really know too much about that though.

From dad's side: 1/4 Norwegian, 1/4 Russian
27th generation direct descendant of Charlemagne (like 150,000, or so other people -if they checked :tongue: )

From Mom's side: 1/4 Canadian(English), 1/4 Norwegian
English ancestors came over in 1620 & 1643 to Plymouth, Mass & Hartford colony (CT).
150 years later, Great, g-g-g grandpa Ensign James Dotten fought with the British in Delancy's Westchester Cavalry. Saw lots of action holding NY & Long Island. Also Eutaw Springs, South Carolina. Evacuated to Wallace, NS in 1783.
Got land grant from King George III. Fast forward.. I find myself in Wisconsin.

I'm almost all Irish, little bit of "Mutt" mixed in on my Mom's side, not really enough of anything to make it worth mentioning.

About 15 years ago we were over in Ireland and one of my dad's cousins was doing a family tree type of thing. (It was actually pretty impressive) Turns out that my Mel Gibson's Grandfather and my Great Grandfather were cousins. (Or may have been his Great Grandfather and another generation back for me) Given Mel's recent publicity, it's not quite as enjoyable to tell people as it use to be.

Born in England, Mum is British. But we think there is Scottish, Welsh, Irish, and Scandinavian on her Father's side and French on her Mother's side.
Father is Italian and Sicilian. The Italian side were Farmers and herders? The Sicilian side has murders, Church Masons, and Muslims in it. They immigrated to Detroit. We don't discuss it... HAHA!!
I don't think anyone famous, but I was on the first US Coast Guard Cutter to circumnavigate the globe, served almost all my time overseas, lived in England, Mississippi, Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, Guam, Singapore, and sorta 3 weeks in the Philippines. Been to 350 places and 25 countries. Girlfriend lives in Germany and is Croatian.
