What new tires to buy?

I am going tonight to buy new tires and was told to get the Yokahama HTS model tires. Are these good? Never had this brand before. I have been running the stock and with the snow here in CNY I need new ones soon. Any thoughts? I will be doing mainly city driving where the plowing isn't the greatest so I something thats good in the snow.

i had Yokahama HTS tires. they were allright but they were so so on wet roads... i have Cooper Discoverer HTP tires on my 4r (4th gen). they do so well on dry roads, FS roads, and wet roads. Also they did pretty good on 2 to 3" depth snow in the mtns. i am happy with them.

This is the best 4 season tire out there if you don't go off road. I have run this tire in the past and would again if I did not go off road for work and play.

I will also say in my experience that Michelin's rubber compounds are better than a lot of their competitors for highway/street/snow/ice use. On my BMW I stuggle to get the tires loose on dry payment.

Thanks guys. On my older Runner, 2005, I had Revo's and wasn't all that impressed with them. Will have to check out the Michelin ones...the Yoko's came highly recommended from the guy at the tire store but unsure if he was just blowing smoke or what. I am going stock and will not being doing any off roading with them.

Hmm, I ran those tires when I first bought my 4Runner and found they weren't very good on ice at all. Mind you, that could also be related to our much lower winter temps up here that turn most tires into hockey pucks.

I got Cooper AT3s because they match my expected use (mostly street, some sand, mud, and snow) and people seem to like them.

Here's CR tire ratings FWIW. I like CR for certain products because they actually test them (batteries is another example).

I chose the Conti's for on road performance, as I have snow tires for winter, nor do I ever leave pavement.

4 seasons not one big snow covered season lol. Of course for ice studs are best followed by a dedicated snow tire.
