What one Item would you love to have, but cannot find available, or mass produced?

I am an a key place in my life to start doing some project development with some brilliant minds. My goal is to come up with a product that everyone wants, but is either unavailable or not yet made. Why not start where my passion lies. TOYOTAS!

A couple ideas off the top of my head are:

96-02 custom roll bar similar to that of the 84-89 4runner. ( cargo area only). I have seen the 1st gens modified to fit, but a actual one off design that's custom for the 96-02 3rd gen.

Second, I always fancied the inclinometer that came in the heavily optioned 1st gen 4runners. I was pondering the idea to come up with one of those for use in all toyota 4x4's but design it to be custom fit to each dash, and dash color.

If you have an idea, let us hear it. It very well could be the next big thing! If you have an idea you are not just ready to give away, I understand. Think about if you will ever see it pan out, and how badly you would like to have this item!

If we do design something based on your idea, we could give you one free and maybe name the product after you or something.

Just kicking around ideas mainly at this stage. I have designed some parts for the 2006 Mitsubishi evolution, and billet traxxas RC parts already, and we have alot of technology at our disposal!

Who Am I? I am a contributing member to yotatech, (just joined here) and a local toyota dismantler in Denver Colorado. Im 27 years old, and run the business on my own. I am looking to get out of this, and into something I am more passionate about, Product development. Everyone has an idea that pops into their head that they can use to make a lasting impression on the marketplace. I have many of these everyday, and its time I start using them.

Make an inclinometer that is both reminiscent of the first gen but matches our modern trucks with maybe a digital readout that has gps capabilities. Especially since the first gens were cool. (have one in my 85) but really aren't functional, since I can tilt further than the Gage and not flop. Just my two cents

the 1st gen units were designed with some slack. If they mass produced a unit that would roll when it said, everyone would roll. Just like needing a gas light...there are always those that need it.:

The inclinometer, compass, altimeter combo similar to what is on the FJ would be great. The trick will be a seamless integration. In lieu of this product however several friends of mine and I opted for the more readily available option of the Casio Pathfinder. Although, it doesnt have the inclinometer which would be sweet.

I voted inclinometer, but my current real wish is for a bolt on rear bumper with a tire carrier. Why must all those be custom? Seems like someone should mass produce them just like the front bumper...

They are not necessarily worthless options. Just not something I am personally interested in. I would be thrilled to find a TJM.

I had a roll bar that went on the b pillars, in the defender, it was the safest thing for a rollover. But what i would really like, is the full on exo-cage stock, they are so sick.

How about a set of cupholders that funtion worth a d*mn. I know about the upgrade mod but it would nice to have something available for purchase without having to modify much of anything.
I bought a set of flip out cupholders for my old truck from a company whose name escapes me but they were the best cupholders I've ever had. They held everything from a sippy cup to a 32oz gatorade. I can find a link if so desired... The only reason I haven't bought another set is it won't look custom unless I build something for them to sit in. If anyone is interested I can see if I can find a pic of these fold out cupholders for you.

2X's on the Tire carrier! Something factory looking maybe?? Not everyone wants a Custom bumper and a Carrier......I made my own, but would have liked another option!

Maybe a kit to adapt the Surf tire carrier to the us 4runners, since i know the surfs had to have some sort of extra body support to hold up the wieght of the tire and carrier.

I would like a multi-gauge as well, with an inclinometer, altimiter and an outside temp reading. That's one thing I really like about my wife's Grand Vitara, the outside temp reading comes in handy.

I put in a cheap $9 unit I got from an auto parts store, and it works surprisingly well. I actually only intended it to work for a couple of months until I could afford a more professional looking gauge but other things have taken up my $$.

Right now my best option is probably the rear view mirror with the compass and temp reading but I'd prefer a gauge on the dash.

My 1990 Montero had a multi-guage on the dash that had the inclinometer, oil pressure and (I think) water temp gauge (<----EDIT: No, it was a volt meter.)

I think a set of cut out flares like the new flat ones bushwacker makes for the Cherokee would be cool. Being flat would solve the clearance problem with the doors.

If you cant see yourself using either idea, post some more. Nothing like sharing ideas. I would love to have a trailer hitch mounted spare tire. I don't think I will be able to design a swing away...

Umm.........a ladder?

This may be far fetched, but I know of a few threads with the members constantly trying to find ladders that are #1) attractive, and #2) affordable. I'd kind of headed a thread at one point by contacting Bajarack directly to see if they could once again produce the product and also attempted negotiating price. They were kind enough to start the project to make a few for "T4R special members", but their price just never met the requests.

If you can find the threads, you'll see lots of interest on the topic. Ladders would be GREAT!! Anyhow, just my 2 pennies.....
