What subwoofers to put in 1998 4runner

12" kicker compvr running 400 watts. 2cu foot sealed box, absolutely perfect. Hits the low notes, hits the higher notes. Blows my old type r out of the water. Plus I lived like 3 hours from their headquarters and I've been there so I might be biased haha.

I like showing off too....Not quite as sweet as [MENTION=45676]dirtbike250x[/MENTION] but it works better for me

I like a lot of bass (as long as it's clean) and this more than does the job.

i have a single JL 10 and it is plenty, it will make my trim rattle and vibrate anything that isnt lose or doesnt have any dampening to it... no sense in running a dual system, unless you have some serious amps and a top of the line head unit and some high end speakers. other wise you are just gonna drowned out the sound. but if you live in Compton or or east oakland then sure

I had 2 JL 12s in my old runner. It was perfect. If you go one 12" w3, I think you'd be golden.

I run a powered 8" that I installed under the driver's seat. Its more than enough IMO. It will make the rear view and side mirrors vibrate, but causes no rattles throughout the truck. Saves me the room in the cargo area, and doesn't pull a drain on the battery. Plus the remote lets me adjust on the fly, since I listen to all kinds of music and the bass is different between them all.
I got over having systems loud enough that people in other vehicles and my neighbors can hear it.

so heres the deal with subs, at least from what i know about them -granted my knowledge on car audio is a few years old but not really more than 5 so unless a lot has changed sense then(and i dont see how this would have changed) its still relevant. the larger in diameter the sub you get wont necessarily change the amount of bass you get, its the power and quality of sub that changes that. what different diameter subs do/change is the type of bass... smaller subs give a harder hit, more precise boom or hit, the larger you go the softer the hit will become, more of a thud, think of smaller subs for rock and their fast changing bass , and bigger subs for hip hop or rap which have a more steady bass line in the "music".

a good single sub will be more than enough to fill a 4runner with bass

Larger diameter subs move more air... That is all... A large sub in the proper enclosure, power supply, and source signal will hit hard and controlled. Smaller diameter subs are great for when space is an issue

I have a Kicker VC12. And i think its great.

It's not overpowering and has a great bass drum kick for all the rock and metal songs. Plus it fits with the cargo cover with like mm to spare. literally its like its made for 4runners haha. this is a pic of it in my trunk
