What tire size should I run?

I’m saving up for new rubber and want to decide on the size for the new All Terrains. I was thinking muds but the reading I’ve done shows ATs are better in deep sand and most of my wheeling is in deep fine beach sand. I do like to tackle the hunting trails but I think the ATs will suffice for the mud. Although I must admit we have some of the slickest clay mud soup I’ve ever encountered here on Kauai.

I reckon she might have a bit of sag but the current setup is 31x10.5x15 I do like this size but feel there’s some space to fill in those wheel wells.

I think I can go bigger from reading on the forum and from seeing her fully flexed with room to spare. The rear being my main concern.

I’d like to go 32s or possibly 33s but the real question is 10.5 or 11.5? I dig the wider tire and correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s better on the beach? That being said it is a 22re so 33s on the hills we have might be pushing it.

I don’t want to lift right now although after hitting some real deep spots where I was pretty sure I’d bottom out made me think about it for the future.

I wish i could see and try all the sizes mounted up but I don’t think a tire shop is gonna mount and unmount a brand new tire for that purpose.

Here’s some shots so you all can tell me if the ass is sagging or if it’s close to stock stance. My one concern is that I do plan to run a hitch mount motorcycle carrier and I know that will sag the ass more and risk rubbing

33x10.50 is my favorite tire size for decent height and width. It might fit on yours but a slight lift may be needed to effectively clear the 33s.

I have 33x10.50's on my '94. No rubbing in the front ever, but a little in the back if I really stuff the wheel. It just rubs against the plastic inner fender, and only under extreme conditions, so I don't worry about it much.

Here are a few pics from some backcountry trips, so you can see how it looks "in its element".

I didn't regear. It's geared for 31's at 4.56, so the change to 33's wasn't that big a deal. It's noticeable, but with a manual you can adjust your shifting patterns to compensate.

I'll put the same size on next time I change tires. I'm a pretty big fan of the BFG KO2's.

That's what I went with when replacing my really old tires recently. I love the look and can't really notice any lack of power from the smaller tires on previously. No need for anything bigger for me, for sure.

That looks good man. I see you have a V6 though so I might stick with 32s since I’ve got the 22re.

I know one inch ain’t much but i also like the idea of running 4x32 which = 108 a universal and divine number haha.

Sorry, no. Close to 31's. I've got V6 but still wouldn't go with 33's.

Can't imagine running the 4 banger with 33's without a re gear.

Looks like my best price options will be with costco bf goodrich all terrain ko2s

They offer 32s in 10 or 11.5 for the 15inch rim

Not sure what I’ll go for. On one hand the 10 might tuck under the fender a little and help me pass safety inspection

But then again the 11.50 is gonna widen up the stance which I liked when going to 31s from the 30 9.5 to the 10.5.

I’m leaning towards the wider for the float on sand but we’ll see!

I’d go 32x11.50 for your use. I haven’t been to Kauai for a few years, but I don’t recall there being too many hills of any significance on the paved roads? In the dirt you can use low range. I’d look at the KM3 as well. They probably aren’t too bad in the sand? It’s got a lot to do with tire pressure when you’re on sand.
