What to do to my paintjob

Ok, I need opinions. I want to get a new paint job. I should say just paint because I am debating between vinyl or painting it. Either way I will have a shop do it. I wanna spend around 2k. What do you guys recommend? I have read so many mixed reviews on the vinyl it has me undecided. I plan on going with a dark, either black or charcoal, color. So my other question. If my current paint is not fully stripped would it really look that bad because I am going that much darker I dont see it being a factor in affecting the shading or outcome. I am no paint specialist so any advice is welcome.

I know someone that did Plasti-dip on his 5th Gen. It turned out very nice, and is very durable. The good thing about Plasti-dip is that you can do it yourself, and get the same results as a shop if you take your time.

Yeah I would never do plasti dip on my entire rig, the only thing I think I would even remotely contemplate doping myself would be monstaliner, just because its pretty difficult to mess that up.

I had my old stock wheels done for about 6months and it was perfectly fine when I got my new wheels, so it lasted there. it is a pain to clean though and gets dirty fairly quick. its like a rubber magnet for dirt

I plasti dipped my motorcycle...it scuffs and peels at the slightest touch and that's after about 7 coats. It was enough for me to never want to do a vehicle with it plus it would cost about 400 bucks.

Not sure what kind of Plasti-Dip you guys are using to have issues. The job has run or peeled in 100+ degree days and after several wheeling trips. This isn't your off shelf hardware store stuff. He used a kit designed for use on cars that cost close to $500, and came with a sprayer. Prep is key on it. Crappy prep will give you crappy results. Plasti-Dip isn't for everyone that's for sure. I'd rather see a flat black wrap instead.

The plastidip that he sells online is the exact you get in the store. Getting it on w/o texture is a huge pain in the ass.
