What to expect from spacer lift ( Daystar)

I’m looking to get 1/2”’spacers from either day star or cornfed just to level the front. I have a 19 with KDSS. Debating on going to an off road shop or just have the dealer install it. I’d rather have the off road shop do it since I would imagine it would be cheaper but my main concern is that they wouldn’t be familiar with the KDSS. I’ve read where some have said the sway bar doesn’t need disconnected with the 1/2” spacers and that would eliminate any issues with the KDSS during install but I’m not sure. Last thing I’d want is just a simple top hat spacer lift install turning into an issue KDSS related. Anyone have input or experience with this type of situation? Thanks

I had this same worry, i took mine to an off road shop and they did it fine, i asked them about the KDSS and they said they have seem it a time or two and didnt have any problems.

Ok thanks. I guess it just depends on the shop. Unless they tell me they are familiar or they tell me they wont disconnect the sway bar I'll just take it to the dealer.

Does a 2.5" top mount spacer not kill your shock from over-extending down that much?

BTW, the top mount spacer isn't that thick. Due to the geometry, 2.5" is the lift when installed correctly. When installed incorrectly, I've seen it higher

I've been running a Daystar "lift" for years now on a XREAS suspension. I have just over 60k on my truck and I am starting to get a little leakage from my shocks so I'm going to rip out XREAS. I don't think this is due to the lift though but just age.

I've off-roaded mine, towed boats, etc... I loved the lift and never had any issues other than the rear going over speed bumps. I would NOT do this if I was going to be doing high-speed off-road driving, but normal slow stuff it worked great. Especially for the money.

Best rear spacer to pair with Bilsteins

For mild/moderate offroad capability, I'm planning on putting 5100s in front and back, with ~3" lift or a little less. To get the level I want, I might need to add some spacing in the rear. I don't know how the various components interact. What kind/brand of spacer (1"-2") will hurt performance the least?

Thanks,

Just don't hit a dip too hard with a spacer lift because you could bend the coilovers.

WHIPPERSNAPPER02, thanks for the tip, I've kind of gathered that there is a risk like you describe with spacers, which is real for some people, but more theoretical for my use case.

In the event that I do decide to use spacers, what are the different ways to space in the rear? I don't know much about where spacers fit in the suspension arrangement, but I gather from reading other threads that there are different ways to space, at least in the front. For the rear, maybe it's simpler?

Other than spacer+Bilsteins to get a couple inches of rear lift, what are the other options without going full thunder dome?

You could swap rear coils.

I ended up swapping my top hat daystar spacers with a pair of OME 2883 springs. These spring installed fine on the stock factory struts. I really wanted to maintain the ride quality of the factory absorbers and get a small amount of lift in the front. The OME springs are slightly stiffer than the factory springs which balances great with the stock rear springs.

I can't stress enough how bad the spacers are. They over extend the suspension at full droop (top out), and in addition, prevent the suspension from bottoming out on the bumpers (the springs fully compress and makes an aweful sound).

Bottom line, I maintainted the factory ride quality with a slight lift in the front to compensate for the nose down look (with the OME 2883 springs in front)
