what TPMS tool are you guys using?

switched to new wheels and tires (5 tire rotation) and am running toyota TPMS sensors on all 5 wheels/tires. since the ORP can only store 4 tires at a time i have to have the 4 tires in use reset every time i do a rotation

i've been going to costco since i bought the tires there and for the last few times the same thing happens. a guy goes to the car with a small tool, it doesn't work, and then comes back with a larger scan tool to "fully reset" the TPMS sensors to the correct orientation


for the guys doing this at home, which scan tool are you using to set the TPMS on your 4runners? i don't want to buy one that can't do it correctly

thanks, i bought this and it works like a charm on my factory sensors.

the unit gave me the option for a 5 wheel setup but i just stuck to programming the 4 wheels/sensors being used.

Will this read the OEM sensors as well? My TPMS light is on and I think one or more sensors have bad battery .
On their Amazon page they say it only reads/programs Autel sensors.

Curiosity question. Can you install the newer LCD displays in older 5th Gen 4Runners and can you get them to display the tire pressure or do you need to ad another sensor or do a software upgrade?

My Autel (see my post, above) read the OEM 2004 Denso sensors and it reads all 5 of the new ones I got on Amazon. You just use the menu to select your model and year. If you have a problem call their support number. They were very helpful. Last year my 2004 sensors were 1 dead, 2 good and 2 weak.

So to confirm, your Autel can read your OEM sensor ID's and write them to the vehicles ECU with the included cable? Nothing else required?

It reads the 5 Denso sensors wirelessly but you use the cable to write them to the ECU. I had trouble reading them, choosing my vehicle from the list. I contacted them by phone (best bet) and they weren't able to help me. They said they would open a ticket with the support team in China. i got an email the next morning that told me to try a newer year and that worked perfectly. Mine is a 2004 and I used 09/2017 - 12/2019

It writes all 5, I don't think you can just pick one to write but it's a simple process. Start at front left and read that sensor then read the others clockwise. It tells you which one to read next. Connect the cable to the unit and the car's OBD port and follow the instructions to write them.

Autel MaxiPro MP808BT Pro

I had a similar situation when I added a 2nd set of tires on my 2017 TRD Offroad. I bought an Autel MaxiPro MP808BT Pro earlier in the year and after a bit of research I found that you can clone your sensors so you can have two sets of tires with the same SN/ID#'s. This prevents you from having to reprogram your sensors every year when you swap out tires. I did use the Autel Dual frequency sensors on my 2nd set of tires (315 & 433 MHz sensors).

Feel free to let me know if anyone has question's on how I did this, but it was pretty straight forward with the Autel MaxiPro.
