What type of service jack??

What type and rating and height of jack do you guys have? I have an old 2 ton with jack stands but the jack isn't tall enough for the SUV.

I got an Arcan aluminum 3-ton service jack from Costco, its range is 3.77" to 19.3". I can lift the 4Runner front wheels off the ground by the frame rail underneath the door using the Arcan. I also have an older steel 2-1/4 ton Larkin jack, not sure of its height range, but it works fine lifting the rear up by the diff pumpkin. The Larkin got stuck once and wouldn't lower, so I picked up a new one.

My jack stands are Powertrade 4-ton with a 13" to 20-1/4" range from Kragen, which is now O'Riley.

I need to find a jack with a lifetime warranty. I had one or two aluminum jacks go bad before the Arcan, which was in a one or two year span. Personally, I like the steel ones better, but the aluminum was all Costco had at the time.

Thanks! I saw one at Sears that goes up to 19.5 and comes with two jack stands. I guess that is what I really need to know was how high it needed to go. Thanks again!

I've Craftsman 2 ton and it isn't tall enough, but three 2x6 make up for it (between jack and frame). Even though I only use that setup for tire rotation only, and never dare to climb under my truck with it - I know I live on the edge:roadkill:

This is the same jack that I have. I might have to find a different spot to put the jack stands but on my first attempt they were not tall enough. I grabbed my other set and used them as I was in a hurry.

I'm used to scissor jacks from my former vehicles and there's a groove you have to put into or else it'll slip and could be disastrous. Now does the frame have grooves that will fit the top of the jacks?

I have an Arcan 3.5 ton service jack. It's a low profile but with a decent range: 3.5T, 3.5" to 21.375" range

For jack stands, I have 4 Sears Craftsman 3T high lift jacks. Looks they're on sale currently for $23
