What was your first major mod and why?

I see people post of different things they did as a mod and wonder why did they do it?

For me it was installing additional 12v outlets in my 4runner. So i came up with 1 socket in each door panel. This way everyone had their own outlet except the 5th passenger. I was sick and tired of everyone fighting, yes mom and dad was fighting with the kids over who got to charge their electronic device!

What was yours? Why?

My 1st major mod 7 years ago was the lift and BFG all terrains. It was constantly dragging on rocks in the desert stock height and always had a fear of cutting the stock tires on rocks. Works like a champ now.

Stereo. I picked up a 2003 LTD with JBL about three months ago. I love it, but I hate the JBL system. I changed the HU, but had nothing but trouble with the amp integration kit, so I am in the process of installing a completely new system--4ch. amp, mono amp, components up front, coaxials in the rear, 8w1 sub, steering wheel controls, all new wiring, and sound deadening. I'm about 75% done. I just need to finish up the end of the front doors and install the sub.

The first mod was window tint. Keeps the heat down and most folks can't see in.

The first major mod was a remote start/alarm system. Remote start because I'm lazy and the alarm because I live in NM.

Next was bilstein 5100s with FJ coils. Needed some additional height and a better ride.

My ShrockWorks bumper was the first thing I ordered when I bought my 4Runner and the first thing that was installed. Mainly because I wanted to run over those pesky lawnmow... I mean Hondas.

In Early 2011 I installed a cornfed spacer in the front while preserving the xreas (for the time being).I did so to level out the rake it had on it. Picked the front up .75-1" and looked nice coupled with new bfg all terrain 265/65/18. Trimmed the front bumper, pushed the inner wheel well forward, and trimmed the mid flap.
It all changed a few weeks ago. See sig.

Bought it and within 2 days had it on 285/70/17's. I always wanted a lifted 4th gen, so when I got mine I couldnt wait any longer haha

The same week I bought my 4th gen I swapped the radio out for a Scion t1819. Just couldn't be in the thing without streaming audio from my iPhone.

Then I couldn't keep my phone charged, so in went the smoker's kit.

Then I couldn't look at it because of the front end rake. So the next day in went the Daystar kit.

Then couldn't drive it because the ride sucked. Off road I lost all down travel in front end, and it walked all over the highway.

So I promptly, chucked those and put ICON Stage 1 on and TC UCA's.

Now I can't keep the gas tank full.

Window tints. 35% in the front. Can't stand the look on people when the see me pick my nose. So I went with 20% in the front. Big difference I think. Compared to the wifeys Terrain 35%. Now I can pick my nose and not get too many death stares
Then HIDs lows and fogs. 6000k first. Didn't like the blueish. Now I have DDM tuning 5000k 35w lows and fogs.
Upgraded speakers(don't wanna talk about that)

Stock radio sucked so I put in a Parrot Asteroid Smart. Love having Spotify, email, Torque Pro, Waze and bluetooth phone at my fingertips.

First thing was LED interior lighting, PIAA high and low beams, then the running boards were removed, then I added the smokers package to the front and a cargo net to the back. Next is the lift - 884's in front, Superflexes in the back, and 5100's all around

First major mod was Pioneer avic head unit with nav and back up camera plus remote start. I came from a infiniti that had all the bells and whistles so i just wanted to ad a few of those to the 4runner. Nav's been great whenever i've needed to use it, back up camera is a life saver living in nyc and the remote start well because i don't like to freeze my nads off in the winter first thing in the a.m. plus i always like to let the runner warm up before i hop in and go!

Extreme HID 5000k kit. Because the stock headlamps are horrible. I'm surprised they put the vehicle into production with the stock lamps, you can't see anything.
