What Winch is Everyone Running

Warn winches are known for their reliability, their craftsmanship, and customer service! I know when I call them, for whatever reason...I'll be talking to someone who speaks English!! Something no one has mentioned yet...Warn is built here in the USA! I hate supporting China or any of those other country's that pay there employees (Slaves) $0.50 an hour. I know sometime you have to buy Chinese crap...but if you have a choice, buy American! So few people do this cause their trying to save a couple penny's/dollars. But this is one of the big reasons so many manufacturing jobs have left the USA and gone to China.

You know your VR series Warn is only assembled in Oregon with globally sourced products, right? There is a reason that Warn is able to undercut their previous Entry Level winch the M8000 with the new VR series. Cheaper parts from, ahem, global suppliers.

One day i would love to have a Warn 9.5XP until then, I'll use the shit out of my Engo. A company i will say that has English speaking customer support, usually from a guy named Joel. HQ'd in Washington state.

And I was't trying to dog your Engo...it's been proven they're a good winch, which they should be! The guy that started the company worked for Mile Marker for years...heck, his dad owns Mile Marker! So he has been around the winch business his whole life. Now, Mile Marker is based out of Florida with their distribution center base is in Washington.

Mile Marker's are made in China and Engo...well they stated they are manufactured globally...lol!! But there head quarters is in Washington or Oregon...can't remember now!

No worries man, i didn't think you were dogging Engo. I knew the history of Engo before i jumped on a smoking deal for $330 shipped for a new 10k with Synthetic line! The first thing i did was pull off all the freaking "Made In China" decals stuck to it. Aint nobody got time for that!

Like i said i would love a 9.5xp but for 1/4 price i took a chance on Engo.

Superwinch Talon 9.5SR offers reliable quality and great customer service. I'd rather pay more once than pay less over and over. I wanted a winch that would be there for me when I need it most. The motor, solenoid, and gearing are all top notch.

I almost went with that very winch and it would of saved me a good bit of money but I let people talk me into warn and ended up with a Zeon 10. It's a nice winch but I bet that Superwinch would have been just as nice in the end and saved me some coin. Like [MENTION=88391]NateMob[/MENTION] I too lusted for a 9.5xp but it was another $400 to $500 more than the zeon.

I love my "Shittybuilt" XRC8! kinda wish i had gotten the X20 (waterproof) one, winched myself out only once, however i pulled out a Yukon Denali (6,800 pound SUV) and a couple other rigs in the snow / ice, and she only blinked briefly with the Denali (it was my die'ing batteries fault).

Smittybuilt is sorta of middle shelf liquor on most products, no need to shovel money into the pit and burn it on a Warn product, but just test out your equipment FIRST, make sure it's all assembled correctly, i've heard several stories of Warn's coming apart OTB too, all depends on whom / how it was put together.

I rebuild Warn 8274s as a hobby and was hoping to be able to use on on my T4R, but I doubt that will work with any of the bumpers I am considering.

I bet it could work with the CBI hybrid bumper if you gave them measurements. As you see my zeon fits. If they tailored the top metal accordingly I don't see why an 8274 couldn't sit in there as long as the Fairlead opening still falls around the same area.

I haven't seen the CBI bumper up close to know for sure, but with the 8274 being a forward facing mount and not a downward facing mount like a lot of the newer winches, it is pretty tough to find bumpers the 8274s will work with.

I will definitely check with them, though.

No chance of it working without redoing the entire winch mount area of the CBI bumper. No better winch than an 8274 though, will pull a house down and i love hearing the brake click as it reels in.

Yeah but CBI is very good about doing custom work so I would still ask if you like the bumper in general and the price doesn't scare you. The openness on the top is perfect for a large winch like the 8274 so they would only need to make some changes to the mounting plate area. It's worth a phone call anyway.
