Interesting you put a V8 badge on the rear hatch, but pulled the one out of the grill....never seen that before lol!
Thanks for all the input. Probably opting for suspension next with all the advice on it. The truck is an '05 with 193k on it. I can promise you it's all original suspension as the previous owner didn't seem to do a ton of maintenance on it. Runs amazing, but I can hear some rattles going over bumps around the wheel well area. I also noticed the shocks starting to raise in the rear when I was doing my brakes this past weekend. Probably don't want to go with anything too pricey, but just having the newer shocks in will probably help.
Considering what you have posted, you might want to have your suspension parts thoroughly checked out to see what needs to be replaced. Some could be done while you're doing the shocks due to what is already taken apart. Others can be done separately. How are the ball joints? I would do a set of Bilstein 5100s, fronts set at 0 (add a 1/2" spacer if you want it level), keep front coils (are you doing this yourself with spring compressor?) and keep the rear springs. At 193K, I don't know if the springs have lost their "spring", but that is also something to consider. Just putting on the 5100s will make a WORLD of difference, let alone the other worn out bushings/parts you find.
I’d probably pay me to do a complete led cluster/hvac/buttons overhaul! Completed 3 in the last month!
If it was my truck, the first thing I would change would be to remove the "bull bar" on the front and throw it away. Then get a proper plate steel rock bumper and mount all your lights on that. Just my opinion.
I needed a good cash car at the time when I purchased it. Bought it in October of 2017 and spent $6k even out the door. It depleted a lot of my savings, but I don’t have a car payment and enjoy this truck so much. Spent another $1400 for rear main seals, timing belt and water pump, belt changes, power steering fluid flush, etc. the day after I bought it and have just changed my oil myself since.
For $6k and 13,000 miles later I’m looking for more in-depth upgrades now, besides just improving the looks. So suspension seems to make most sense, and since I’m now finding I have a little extra money, it should be soon.
Any ideas on where I could grab a set of 5100’s or even FJ springs?
I'd probably be interested in doing this in a little while. What's your turn around time? And $$$ ?
