What would you do if you win the lotto?

I think I'd downsize in terms of possessions but upsize in quality of the stuff I own. Find some land in a nice spot near a smallish town, build a modest but extremely awesome house/bunker, then work on my 4runners, drink beer and mow my lawn.

I'd stay single.

I'd donate money to children with cancer, like St. Jude Children's Hospital. I would also donate to Tunnel to Towers to purchase homes for Gold Star families. Gotta support our vets and their families.

After that... I'd travel the world in my private jet and live life to its fullest before buying a Toyota dealership that specialized in custom off-road 4 Runners. I'd buy land for an 4x4 off-road park which includes Trucks, SUV's, ATV/UTV's, an AMA Motocross track and snowmobile racing in the winter time. I'd also buy a few nightclubs around the world and re-open my record labels and open a distribution center for my vinyl records.

Multiple mansions in the country/mountains. Montana/Colorado/Utah/Sierra Nevada/Italian Alps. A few beach houses in Spain/France/Sicily/Greece/Miami/California.

Depends on if it's a "windfall" level win or "generational wealth" win...

Former? I'd just pay off all my debts, purchase vehicles, finish house projects, plan a nice vacation. Dump a prudent sum into long term investments minimizing tax burden since I'd already have paid a ton for the stupid lump sum... definitely would build a wicked 4Runner(and maybe get a Porsche for track days...).

For the latter? I'd up and disappear for a few months at least, just to weather the storm of bullshit fake friends and extended family drama.

Burner phones only. Social media turned off. Sabbatical from (or quit) work for both my wife and myself. Pay a contractor friend to finish my house projects, sell it.

While flying under the radar we'd probably be traveling across the US, looking for where we'd like to settle down long term, since its NOT in metro Detroit... Tennessee, Texas or Wyoming are far more likely, to name a few. Find a nice piece of property with good views and start designing our fortress of solitude (I'm an Architect). Someplace with elbow room. 100+ acres where I can't see the neighbors.

Probably would also charter a decent size yacht in the Med for a month or three. Order a yacht, fast cruising catamaran most likely. Google Gunboat 68... Travel a LOT while the house and yacht are under construction.

By this time philanthropy can be planned. Pay off extended family members student loans, set up a trust for future family scholarships with tight GPA requirements. Make a silly donation to my alma mater that gets my name on something dumb, like a bathroom, just to stick it to the faculty that didn't like me.

Work for fun from that point on, maybe get into development. Spend seasons at the Fortress of Solitude or cruising the world, weather and obligations depending.

Get a proper financial advisor and invest, pay off student loans and get on the housing ladder, nothing too overboard though, I'd get a job with flexible hours and pursue my hobbies.

Just get away from all the freeloading scumbags that will hound you and try to rip you off.
Hire a lawyer and CPA. I trust my current financial advisor so no worries there. Make them all distrustful of each other. LOL

Then after that.
New house/land in good school district or near a good private school with a separate house on the prop for my mom.
Build giant woodshop with all the fancy tools I can't afford now.
Set up a monthly salary from the investments that is well within reason <200k.
Maybe buy a second house at a nearby ski resort.
Raise my kid. Build furniture. Travel. Help out some charities. Keep it simple and stress free.
